The Lookout - Joseph Gordon-Levitt Jeff Daniels
Chris (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a once promising high school athlete whose life is turned upside down following a tragic accident. As he tries to maintain a normal life, he takes a job as a janitor at a bank, where he ultimately finds himself caught up in a planned heist
A slow burner to start but I enjoyed this film. The guy who plays Chris acted an OK part and he has more than a passing resemblance to Heath Ledger. Clocks in at 90 odd minutes, not too long and a little twist on the usual bank heist style of movie.
7.677965 out of 10.
Watched this last night. I'm going to have to disagree I'm afraid. Certainly not a bad film but I wouldn't quite give it the same raps as CMN.
I found it all a little to 'convenient'. It's pretty hard to go into specifics about that without giving the plot away and spoiling it for others however. Suffice to say that I think that the film tries to mitigate the actions of the main character in order to engender some viewer sympathy for him. He's a pedophile but he was 'only' convicted of indecent assault and "it wasn't what you think... I never hurt (i.e. raped) them". This is contrasted to the 'bad pedophile' who stalks young boys and the scence where he symbolically beats the pedophile in himself was all a bit too much of a cop-out for me.
Anyways, still worth a watch: 6/10
Kung Fu Panda
Probabaly been done before so short n sweet.
6 year old loved it, made him laugh and me too. Nothing like seeing your kids happy .
Just saw Hancock. Good for a laugh, but that was it. Not one of Will Smiths shining performances.
i have to go to the cinema to watch Hancock tomorrow.
At least I can enjoy the Doritos and cheese dip at a ridiculously inflated price.
Oh yeah, saw Kung Fu Panda a couple of weeks back. Laughed twice - and both of those moments were in the trailer.
I give Hancock 2/5
I fell asleep and missed about 10 minutes of it though.
Very disappointing. And the SIngapore censors should never have given it a PG rating. It was much too violent and had frequent use of the words arsehole and fuck.
Wanted
Good fairly mindless action flick. Angela Jolie was looking pretty neat. I watched a handheld camera rip off which was out of focus and missed the edge of the screen. Still enjoyed it and would watch it again if I could get a better copy.
6/10
College Road Trip - not bad for a sickly Disney movie. I actually quite enjoyed it.
7/10
Got around to watching "Cloverfield" last night.
Man - what a SUCK movie that is! Herky-jerky camera action with a real loser plot. What kind of shit is coming out of Hollywood these days!
^
i agree.
there is very little around at the moment that i fancy downloading.
i have decided instead to download some of my old favourites.
just stuck 'Memento' on for download, looking forward to watching that again.
I remember that being a good movie, but I can't remember anything about it even though I only watched it a few months ago. Not enough alcohol I reckon.Quote:

Actually, I don't think I did watch it. Looks good though.
top draw.
one of my all time favourites.
demands a re watch.
Insanitorium (2008)
I'm halfway through it. And posting a short blurb about in on here... That ought to be enough to tell you how shite it is.
King of Kong was good.
thanks for that one.
^Yeah quirky bunch weren't they. :) Actually I might just watch that again and not bother with the rest of the crapola above.
Memento's a keeper. King of Kongs a freakshow of sorts. Only in America...
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Raised a chuckle here 'n there
Rise of the Footsoldier
Rise of the Footsoldier follows the inexorable rise of Carlton Leach from one of the most feared generals of the football terraces to becoming a member of a notorious gang of criminals who rampaged their way through London and Essex in the late eighties and early nineties
I was expecting another football hooligan type film like The Football Factory and Im glad it wasnt. Ive seen a few of those sorts of films and they follow the same pattern usually, football thug beats people up shags birds and ends up being a local hero for some bollocks.
This is based on a true story which I always prefer. Gory in places and very watchable, clocks in at about 1h 45.
I liked King of Kong too, some great characters in there. :)
Woody Allen's 'Stardust Memories'. I think it might become one of my favourites. 9/10.
'Fear of a Black Hat' (spoof docu on gangster rappers). Quite funny, better than CB4. 7/10
Anyone seen 'Brick'? that's another good one I watched a while back, but will give it another watch later. Must be worth a good 8/10 though.
