Having said that it was much better than the tpical American underdog makes good sports movie. (except for that really good one where Denzel Washington fights racism to become head football coach of a high school team ....name??)

I agree, most American sports flicks can be too much sometimes, but I loved The Natural (1984) ! That's a classic!

We also can't forget Scorsese's B&W boxing masterpiece Raging Bull (1980), that was a VERY inspirational underdog movie!

If Tarantino thought Tom Yum Goong was worth bringing to the US, he is losing his edge, or thought it'd be alright to put his name on it for a few million dollars.

Crap movie. Obviously Tony Ja is a fantastic martial artist, but that doesn't excuse the movie.

Ong Bak at least had some genuine moments.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose is a 2005 horror/thriller film directed by Scott Derrickson. The film is based on the true story of Anneliese Michel, a young Catholic woman from Germany who died in 1976 after unsuccessful attempts to cure her from the alleged state of demonic possession with the means of psychotropic drugs. Also, church-approved exorcism was performed on her, according to her wish. According to the court, her death was caused by medical neglect at the wishes of the priest watching over her. The story of her short life, strong faith and exhausting struggle with what seemed to be supernatural powers served as the basis for this horror movie. The screenplay was written by Scott Derrickson and Paul Harris Boardman.

This is basically a courtroom thriller/horror/suspense

The story is told with flashbacks from courtroom testimony and the events unfold throughout the film,
It's quite a well told story although there were a couple of twists thrown in for dramatic effect and I don't think it was needed as the plot was strong enough without them, It was refreshing in a way as special effects were at a minimum and it did scare the shit out of me on a few occasions (weed would have contributed too).
Acting was good on the whole with only a couple of week performances e.g. the prosecuting lawyer who was a little inconsistent throughout.

A solid 7/10

I watched 10 minutes of "Taken" and 20 minutes of advertising on Thai Tv the other day before I switched off and went to bed. 1 out of 5, giving it the benefit of the doubt.

The last movie I watched from start to finish was "Harry Potter and the goblet of fire".
The Triwizard tournament is on, and Harry's name has been entered by an agent of his arch-enemy, the evil wizard whose name should not be mentioned.
So Harry has to prove himself in these tasks for more advanced students of the art, dragons, mazes and more!

A little predictable, if you've seen the previous movies, but still thoroughly enjoyable fun for the whole family.
4.5 of 5.

up here in chiang rai, i was able to buy a copy of "the english patient"
believe it or not, hadn't seen it before.
watched it last night
thought it was fantastic. will definitely watch it again.
the acting, the story, the cinematography, just brilliant.
the use of language to portray the situation, espescially in the cave, was brilliant. had to rewind and watch again..... gonna go and watch that part again now.
well, it is the last movie i watched. old but good 4.9/5

Star Trek fan myself & found this movie poorer than a Thai beggar who had just lost his wallet.

Most entertaining thing to happen during this movie was letting my mind wander wondering if the Enterprise would be able to take out a Star Destroyer. Still pondering it now.

I screwed up. The specs are actually for an Acclamator, not a Star Destroyer. A Destroyer's actually 10x bigger (possibly 10x more powerful) so regardless of class the Enterprise would be squashed like a bug. In fact, the entire Federation would be screwed should they not bow to the Empire.

A fairer match would be Boba's Slave 1. But they'd still be screwed. Behold.

Hand-held phasers have a variety of settings, able to either "stun" or kill, and also able to vaporize large swaths of material.
