Review the last film you watched

Hi. Just finished watching Gods of Egypt. It's way out there, as far as sci-fi goes but the soundtrack was next to awesome. I'll post the summary that's on the google page. That's all. I like to know a little bit about a film before I watch it. In fact, I almost find it necessary and I read this one beforehand also. But, in fact, I chose to watch it bc I like Gerald Butler. The rest of the cast fulfilled my expectations. I'd give it 5/10. I would add "spoiler alert", if i thought that most of you wouldn't read what IMDb has to say about any movie bc of a spoiler effect. What I'm adding after the film poster pic is nothing more than that. On second thought, I'll just post IMDb's preview. (They gave it a 5.6.)

Good movie. A "Spanish and French" film based in Spain. Very good story line and acting, IMO.

Spanish audio with English subtitles.

Anyone seen it? Give it a chance.

Headhunters a must watch, very entertaining

A reasonable copy of the X-Men is now up.

Which is just as well because I'm halfway through it and I'm glad I didn't bother paying to see it.

The Wife loved Gods of Egypt - just saying so for fellas who wanna watch the film with wifey (yours, obviously, not mine!).

I watched "Citizen Kane" yesterday. My third attempt at getting all the way through this "greatest movie ever made".

I just don't get it. I thought it sucked.

some classic movies are acquired taste,

watch more of them, and you might understand their values

Hmm, 3 out of 5. Watched in on a Monday evening in 3D at the local cinema (bought our own 3D glasses because the cinema-provided ones are well manky).

It was a reasonable watch, nothing overly captivating, fairly basic plot.

Funny to see Sacha Baron Cohen playing Time. He didn't really have enough weight for the role, but it is a fairly fluffy movie.

Excellent CGI - I shoulda smoked a big bifta before watching it.

Good for the kids, stoners, Lewis Carroll enthusiasts and those looking for a lightweight movie.

The Maze Runner and then the second installment in the series, The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. I can't believe that The Maze Runner 3 won't be released until Jan. 2018 as the endings of the first two practically ended with the first sentence of the next one. And #2 continued the sentence. The star didn't age between the first and second installments because the first one was released in 2014 and the second in 2015. The ending of the second definitely led to the conclusion that it was going to continue on immediately in some dystopian "present". Still, I guess they could have filmed all three a few months apart.

Approaching the Unknown - 2016 (Mark Strong, Luke Wilson).

Seems to be an attempt at exploiting the success of The Martian, which it clearly didn't manage because it's going straight to cable with a limited theatrical release.

A lone astronaut has to head off to Mars on his own on a one-way mission.

I kept waiting for something to form out of the claustrophobic direction and lacklustre script. And in the end, it did. A great, steaming, Richard the Third.

3/10 at best.

I've never liked that movie. I never could get into it.

It was the best movie ever made - at that time.


Same with some other's that are considered so "good."

Key Largo. Didn't like it. It was good - back then.

I feel the same about On the Waterfront for the most part.

I watched 'Keanu' last night.

It plays a bit like an extended skit from the Key & Peele show which isn't that bad a thing if you're a fan (I am) but as a movie in and of itself...yeah not so much.

A lot of the innovative film making techniques in Citizen Kane are taken for granted today by the average film viewer. An appreciation for any significant film must be viewed in the context of it's place in the history of the cinema.
