I don't mind a bit of music. It's when they start dancing and jumping around like fuckin popcorn in a popcorn machine that a longing for a robust assault rifle quietly slips into my mind.

Every fuckin thing seems to have cops, CIA, FBI, USPS and general mindless destruction in it. I'm sick of it. Hear me? Sick.

^ Not bad for mindless shootemup but disappointing for a Dredd movie I thought.
The Helmets made them look like big dildos and they fucked the bikes up bigtime.

Rave reviews but it's a musical. Since My Fair Lady and Sound of Music the word gives me the creeps.

Did you see it when it was on stage by any chance? It was fantastic and I am going to see it based upon the recommendations of the many critics who gave it very high marks.

No, never did. Which is why I'd like to give it a go. Can't find a valid torrent though.

Fact that I had a heart attack during the movie didn't help much to spice things up.

Lincoln 2012 directed by Steven Spielberg.

The experience was akin to entering my grandmother's bedroom when I was 9 years old and thinking how utterly strange and decrepit everything seemed.
Daniel Day Lewis inhabitation of Lincoln's skin is incredible. It was like photo of Lincoln from a history book had come to life.
The film drills down on Lincoln's efforts to get the 13th amendment ratified by the house of representatives. Excellent movie 9/10.

Low budget SciFi is usually a case of straight to the weekly rental shelf.
This one however is different and is almost a comedy (on purpose). There are some great gags and the bunker ripoff is priceless. Some suspension of disbelief is required and well as suspension of some physical laws.
I was in the right frame of mind and not expecting too much, but still, was pleasantly surprised.
So, without further ado, I give you Nazis, in SPACE!
What more to you need, really.

    RED (2010) with Bruce Willis

not sure what's wrong with him, but he seems to have engaged in all the shitty movies for the last 4 years

RED is one of them, predictable, boring and not even funny

Double Feature last night, both bad.

    Killer Joe

Corrupt cop (Matt McConaughey) hired to kill the mother of some rednecks (by the rednecks). All goes wrong. Slow tedious movie which only becomes remotely interesting in the final 20 minute scene and then ends stupidly. Scored ok on imdb but I thought it was a waste of a plot. Lead acting was ok as well as some of the support, but just a poorly scripted flick imho.

    IMDB 6.9
    Torrent

    Six Bullets.

Well, if you like JCVD then you're probably an idiot who will watch anything and will love this. As they go, probably one of the Belgian's better movies, if there is such a thing, getting on he is having to rely on story and cast more than his muscles, only movie of his where he does not do a full split and hold for effect.
Guy from Stargate Atlantis is a MMA fighter in Moldovia whose kid is taken by slavers. JCVD style terror and mayhem ensue until they get her back.

    Just watched Dark Zero Thirty

"A chronicle of the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks, and his death at the hands of the Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 in May, 2011."

Apparently written, based on first hand accounts. It starts off pretty slow but overall I enjoyed it and think it was pretty well made. 7/10. (The torture scenes are a bit brutal so the wife won't enjoy it.)

IMDB: Zero Dark Thirty (2012) - IMDb

    Torrent: http://bit.ly/WipHXg

(The torrent is a screener, good quality except the "For your viewing" pops up no and again.)

    Killing Them Softly Crime/Drama
    What is is.
Ensemble cast with Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta and a somewhat odd major cameo by Aussie Ben Mendholson. The story revolves around the robbery of a mob card game and the ensuing retribution and cleaning up by Hitman Brad Pitt. There are no "good guys" in this pick and it can be somewhat slow at times though the dialogue, especially for the major characters is slick and well delivered.
What it is not is a gripping or fast moving tale, what it really is a political manifesto (Pitts?) and social commentary on modern America depicted through mob economics, social mores and values.

    Watchable, but be warned.

    The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) - IMDb

Watched this curled up on the sofa with GF last night. Just needed popcorn and ice cream. An enjoyable romp probably best suited to teenagers or escapism for old farts.

    The Hobbit
It's been years since I read the book but I think the ending was much different. Probably a set up for a sequel.
If you liked Trilogy of the Rings you'll probably find this to your liking too.

I have a feeling that the current "The Hobbit" is the first in a trilogy (??) - which seems to be to be stretching it a wee bit far - its not that big a book, comparable to one book of the LOTR trilogy, so cutting to three is going to be tedious.
