I can understand your dismay if you thought it was a Robert de Niro film. It isn't. It's a Robert RODRIGUEZ film, and not atypical of his material (e.g. From Dusk till Dawn).
Sounds like you spent the entire film not getting it.

So bad it's good!
What a silly billy I have been ! There I was thinking that Robert de Niro played the part of the American senator who set up the poor Mexican guy in the first place. Have to be fair though, the guy was a bloody good look-alike. The guy who looked like Steven Seagall was pretty convincing too.
Please check the Internet Movie Database and you will see the full cast. Robert de Niro plays the senator. It is a terrible film but that is of no importance. You really need to change those spectacles but feel free to leave your teeth in the glass if it makes you more comfortable. That seagull person is in it too.
May I be the first to wish you a "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year".

You won't like Death Proof or Planet Terror then :)Quote:
This film is what it says it is. Nothing less. And perhaps a little more.
Most of Machete's critics that have given overall negative reviews, have fallen into a trap of their own devices. Machete is an exploitation film and was advertised as such. By definition, an exploitation film will include excessive violence, gore, nudity, and be high on intentional corny lines while low on plot devices and character development. To give low ratings to Machete because of one's distaste for the genre, would be like saying "The Shining was awful because I don't like horror."
Machete is an exploitation film at its finest. And, for the most part, if you are the type of cinema attendee who wants to see a movie called Machete in the first place, chances are you will be thoroughly entertained.

^Watched it a few weeks ago. I lost an hour plus of my life on it so should others - hence no review.
lol
As I said, it's a Robert Rodriquez movie and is typical of his adult fayre.
So it is understandable that if you think it is a "Robert de Niro" movie, you would be disappointed.
Which is why I asked: Have you watched "Brazil"?
(Which, by the way, is a Terry Gilliam film, and is exactly what you would expect from him).
EIther you are missing the point to be obtuse, or you are a complete ignoramus when it comes to the movie business.
Either way, if you watched Machete thinking it would be Raging Bull or Taxi Driver, I can understand your dismay.
De Niro can cherry pick his movies, and I'm guessing he chose this because he wanted to be part of it. I'm sure he'd be thrilled to hear you thought it was shit.
Then again, your "review" says fuck all apart from graphic violence, so I'd stay away from such films as Casino and Cape Fear if I were you.
:chitown:
I think he should review Rutger Hauers "Hobo with a Shotgun" next.

You guys may laugh, but it's the best film I have seen all year.
Forget the holes in the storyline and sit back and enjoy.
To be honest I wasn't looking forward to watching it after the first 10 minutes, but this film really grows on you.

Will let you guys read the link and make your own minds up.
Not gonna post the link I used to download the movie because the one I used had a watermark popping up every 20 minutes and I don't want you lot reporting back that it fcuked up your viewing enjoyment!
Piece of piss to find on TPB (I got mine from AXXO).
Trust me. You don't have to be a UFC fan to enjoy this.
Bogon rating 8.75/10
Would have got another half point if there were some tits and minge, but alas it was not meant to be.
Started watching it the other day, and it looked very good. Wasn't expecting it to be so long and it clashed with something i had to do. I'll deffo go back to it.
I watched 50/50 yesterday which i thought was funny even though it's about a serious subject matter.

^That's the next one on my list. Gotta have a break though. Find it hard watching 2 movies back to back.
Yeah - I find my attention span drops a bit watching 2 or 3 movies back to back.
Yeah, it's really good. Deffo worth an hour and 39mins.
Good film, just watched it. I liked the fact that it combined the seriousness of cancer with humour and the director pulled it off without being too melodramatic about it.Quote:
