The Bridge (2006)
A documentary on San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, but with a different focus. In 2004 filmaker Eric Steel set cameras in place to film the bridge from certain angles over a period of several months. During this time the camera's captured the final images of 19 people as they lept from the bridge to their death.
Some estimates are as high as 2,000 for the number of people that have ended their life by jumping from this iconic bridge; if the 245ft fall doesn't kill you immediately chances are any of the cold water, currents dragging you out to sea, almost certain internal injuries and bleeding, or the Great White sharks known to populate the area will.
Pretty harrowing film to watch. I'm not going to rate it or give it a score because I'm still not sure if it was a trashy bit of sensationalist, voyeristic, garbage or a deeper commentary on the desperation of some people, the systems that fail them and those they leave behind.
