You know you don't belong when you romantically envision the beloved '80s as nostalgic.

So, you loved the eighties so much that you’ve put up...err...two songs recorded this century?

The 80s were great because nany of us were in our prime at that time.
    The fashion SUCKED.

The music had MOMENTS, but generally sucked.

The Xers are beginning to find out they weren't/aren't that special or influential.

Applies to their offspring [Tweeners and Millennials] as well....

There's this virtual pub quiz on Youtube with about 200,000 followers, the guy that does it has raised a ton of money for various charities and garnered a bit of attention from the C-list celeb community.

He has a half time break and "stars" are volunteering to fill in for him. Last week it was a Falstaffian Gary Barlow, this week Rick Astley who clearly is making great use of Grecian 2,000,000.

So before you start waxing lyrical about the 80's remember they brought us Take That and the Stock Aitken and Waterman musical shit factory.

The 80s were fantastic. Big hair, cheesy music and no worries in the world as a kid.

See, you youngsters didn't realise they were just clinging on to the 70's with overdubs and music videos hiding the fact the music was mostly rubbish.

What Syb said, and that was just one year, the 70s has some great stuff, it died by 83 ish Armstrong and the 90 were a pale imitation of originality sorry to say - no angst and reason to create just bumbling bollix.

When I picture the 70s in my mind I imagine one thing: gloom.

All those strikes, pubs shutting at 3pm and nothing on the telly on a Saturday apart from Dickie Davis and wrestling.

No wonder there were so many angry punks.

many great tracks Hal. A universal truism in music - only great music comes from angst, druggies, alcoholics, broken hearts blah blah blah - as soon as they solved their shit the music got boring. The 80 and 90 musics was just like a whole post thanks for sharing (in recovery) load of bollix only made tolerable with a load of E, the grade of which when down faster and got cut with H faster than a Seattle stray.

Many exceptions and with some excellent stuff later on, but %wise generally downhill from the 60s and 70s.
