films about quarantine / isolation / confinement....yet another covid-19 thread

as most of us are confined to home for an extended period, what's your favorite movie on the theme of isolation or quarantine?

many to choose from, but mine is probably 'moon' from 2009.

the under-appreciated sam rockwell is great, the soundtrack is perfect, and the sets are impressive.

the only bit that doesn't hold up is the voice of the onboard AI system. kind of gross now.

if you haven't seen it, don't watch the trailer on youtube because it inexplicably includes an epic spoiler.

my wife and i re-watched it about three weeks ago.

kind of weird how similar it was regarding the origin.

The first "Alien" film was a bit special (1979). Claustrophobic aboard that spacecraft, the crew being picked off by the monster. H.R. Geiger's amazing background sets really lock you into the feel of isolation in that film.

A film that has always stuck with me is 'The Omega Man' though it probably doesn't hold up so well today. It's definitely better than the quasi-remake 'I Am Legend' though even that isn't terrible and gets a bit of a bad wrap I reckon.

'The Quiet Earth' is another good one if you foreigners can make sense of the Kiwi accent and for a mini-series maybe 'The Day After' though it's been an age since I saw that and can't really recall much.

The Last Man on Earth (1964) was the original outing with Vincent Price. You want dated?

I'm an hour into Underwater. Not much of a plot so far but fucking hell it's claustrophobic.

I enjoyed The Lighthouse the other week.

The Martian probably the best off the top of my head as a really isolated movie.

What was that shit one about a guy getting his leg stuck in a glacier?
