Thanks very much for the suggestion!

I've watched the youtube video but must admit I have a kind of mental block as to how the music plays through FM radio...

I'm starting to think it'll be best if I part with some money and get a new 'head unit' as I've now discovered they are called.

I'm planning on keeping this Hilux until it dies... so many more years hopefully, even if we have to get a second car at some point. I'll always need a pickup to transport the dogs and for the various projects I have on the go. I'd be lost with just a saloon, or even a hatchback. If a replacement head unit lasts another 13 years, then money well spent. Besides, along with the CD player, the volume control has also packed up on my current unit, so probably time to replace it anyway.

I'll check some out on Lazada when I get time tonight, and then let Baldrick tear my choices apart... I want as simple as possible. No video, don't need rear reversing camera, don't really need satnav as I use the phone for that. Just want to play music and radio through the car speakers... no more.

There are plenty of places in Korat that will do it for you, Mendip. There's a place across the road from the Mall that will do it, but there are plenty of other places to choose from in Korat.

reversing cams and car cams are cheap and very useful

and no need for CD , you can put an SDcard or USB drive into the head units - all I do is have music on the USB and update it on the computer once in a while

Go to a shop and buy one from there. They'll install it for you.

^^^ I have a dash cam and wouldn't want to drive in Thailand without one, after a very good friend's experience. I think it's very reassuring to have everything recorded. I've never really thought of a reversing cam before, with a 13 year old truck I tend to touch-park when reversing.

^ Yes, that's the way I'm leaning now. Doesn't look like it'll cost much at all either for my small requirements.

You'll need a different box if you want to record in car canoodling. Although the Rear View Camera option seems to be a useful add-on.

The forerunner in making Dashboard Head Units is Joying and their units are $150 for the simplest up to $350 for their biggest screen/best performer so I can only guess what you get for 821 baht..

Fondler is a cheap arse Wanker and one could expect him to recommend some nasty cheap crap.

This is not very hard, ya drive ya motor into Sumchai the retards motor shop and tell him to tool the motor up with the good shit.

Sumchai love loud music, Doof Doof and coloured lights.

    Get into it.

When it cum to tooling up with music wether it's In car or in house the worst thing one can do is Jew on the dollars.

The thrill of buying cheap soon gives way to pain when the penny drops that the sound is not quiet up to par.

But if he gets the lead as recommended by ao and luigi it'll cost him about 100 baht.

It would seem to make sense to try that first.

People seem to be overthinking this.

You buy one of these for Bt279.

Plug it into the lighter socket.

Connect your phone to it with Bluetooth.

Select the FM frequency that isn't in use and tune your radio to it.

    Hey Presto!

Your phone's audio comes out of the cars speakers.

    It's not rocket surgery.
