I would guarantee you that those TRN V80's sound every bit as good as your SE215's if not better. In fact I think they sound better than any other IEM you can get for under $150. BTW the TRN V80's have quad drivers compared to your SE215's which have only one. ChiFi is the real deal. Maybe it is not to late for you to return these SE215's

Read these guys dishing out high praise after high praise...

I only use them when I am outside the house and they tend to take a beating. When I am at home I listen to my Sennheisers and never touch IEM's.

One last note Betty. What type of audio files do you even listen too because if you are still listening to MP3/4's then you no right to be commenting on what is/isn't proper HiFi.

If they sound as good as the se215s then they will be excellent value for money because the 215s are known as the best sound for around $100. I do have a lot of crappy files, it is true, but because I spend decent money on SE 425s then SE 535s I have a lot of FLAC files too. Generally, most phones are crap with MP3 files, as you know, the Sony phones have nice 'upscaling' technology and Marshall/LG phones have nice DACs, but most phones (especially iPhones since the 6s) have dire sound quality.

Funnily enough, inspired by Dilly's cheap&crap ( ) new headphones, I decided to get meself some cheap and crap gym headphones too. &, I'll have to review some of the elements I wrote after rereading this thread and spending a couple of hours checking/shopping...

It's hard to find a good pair of gym bluetooth headphones at any price that suit my requirements.

Sound quality: the Sennheiser momentum and perhaps some B&O seem to be the best (but these cost $300), and also the Powerbeats pro are decent sounding as are the Bose gym weird looking small-big in-ear wireless waterproof headphones. But, the latter aren't USB-C, so I refuse to buy any device with the lightening connector! The good sounding two above are not waterproof or really made for the gym, so my SE535s are just a better bet for home and travel listening.

The Jabra ones mentioned seemed decent, but not USB-C.

So, I thought about sound quality and kinda changed my mind to agree with you rabble that it's not the most important issue for gym headphones. I want convenience, comfort, USB-C (or even better a device which will sit on my Samsung wireless charger next to my phone), small carry case, etc. So, for $130, I got these:

    In ear audio recommendations-20190730_171352-jpg

I doubt they sound any/much better than the Chinese stuff you've been talking about/Dilly bought - but, they are very small and convenient to carry, fit in the pocket, very comfortable to wear, very easy to pair with my Samsung Note 9, wirelessly charge on my desk next to my sexy and slightly gay MacMini, decent battery life, and are USB-C.

I just tried these Samsung Galaxy Buds with a bit of Stereo MCs...

I took them out of the little box, put them in ear, and they paired with my phone by themselves, I just pressed yes on the phone. They are Galaxy Gear, so they link to everything on my phone. Piss easy to play/pause and change track via the touchpads. Sound: nice. I would say they are slightly better sounding than the Beats X I had with my iPhone 8, and they pair as easily as the Apple/Beats devices - so Samsung has upped their game there. Like the Beats, they are set to sound nice with most music, not as detailed or source dependant as the Shures, so probably a good all round gym/mp3ish option. They are much easier to use and sound better than I thought; Stereo MCs sound as they should; not as dynamic and soundstaged as the SE535s, but...

For $130, for me and my needs, they were a decent buy. For somebody with a new Samsung phone (9 or 10 series), they do the job well.

^ out of greens, sorry, but seems as that wasn't funny in any other way than it reminded me of me grandad's one joke...

I tell you what pisses me off, having shopped today with vigor and enthusiasm, was the amount of non USB-C wireless headphones that have come out in the last few months; the lightening connector stuff really gets my goat!

No point in talking HiFi if you are still using shit sources for your music.

^ I agree with you, and I don't like Beats, but the Beats X and Beats Power Pro are decent for general listening - remember that bluetooth standards are very limiting, so you cannot get anywhere near the best quality sound from bluetooth. Of course, plugged in phones will sound a lot better than the best bluetooth headphones.

Beats have done a decent job of finding the happy medium of decent-ish bluetooth sounds for most sources, imho (with the two headphones I mentioned).

Regarding these Samsung Buds after some more listening... Here is a review: https://www.techradar.com/reviews/samsung-galaxy-buds They are nowhere near the sound quality of 535s, nowhere near. But, for gym or running/cycling they are decent and very convenient. I've gone a good distance from my phone and the connection stays strong - much better than the Shure bluetooth set (which is terrible...). These Samsung Buds are very similar in convenience and sound to the Beats X/Power Pro X, but half the price of the Power Pro gym headphones, so a decent buy if you have a Samsung phone.

BTW, Snubby, the phone isn't my only source, but it's the one I use in the gym, obviously. I like good sound, after I got my first job I bought Epos speakers, Arcam CD player, Nakamichi casette deck and Naim amplifier (I had a Beng in electronic engineering too, so I studied that kinda stuff). I have half an idea and a lot of love for nice audiophile stuff.

the accuracy of the op-amps in the original input conversion and your output DAC and the engineering control of your transistors in your amplifier circuit which is driving your linear motors is what will decide on the accuracy of the sound you recieve

and the upshot of the above is - just buy what sounds good to you and is cheap

Apparently it's fixed but the file format limits you to 9,000 songs a folder or something.

Not sure that's going to bother me too much.

Most of the bad reviews are from Feb and they've released two firmware updates since then which is good.

Hopefully I'll get it next week before I travel so I'll post a review.

My Fiio X3 is past retirement age.

    Very happy with my LG V30 and they are actually very cheap now compared to when I bought mine. If you have one of these phones make sure that you use this;

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...erpro&hl=en_US

That app is built just for that phone and is designed to make full use of the DAC. Well worth the price.
