Daughter is off to university shortly. I bought her a notebook a few years back and it's seen better days. Any of you chaps recommend a decent laptop or notebook.
Cheers, Chas.

Ballpark budget?
Whichever one you decide, make sure to consult with her before buying it.
a chromebook with at least 4 GB of RAM and she's got all she needs at a very reasonable price.
I was thinking about 10-15 k. I'm not in Dilly's league!

I got this for work a couple of years ago, so they probably have a newer model. Got it in Myanmar but it would have cost about 11,500 THB over the border. Had almost no issues with it and it has proven to be a good workhorse and is still going strong.
All of these are under $500 use them as a guide by reading the reviews.

If Thailand you may want to extend to 17k baht
Have a look on invadeit.com if buying in Thailand
Got an Acer or Asus one around 18 months ago. Nice shiny purple one.
7k baht and I'll delete the My Little Pony movies, hardcore porn, and deliver it to her in person.
Can't do fairer than that bud.

Not a bad spec as long as they haven't neglected to mention Windows 10 Home. I couldn't be arsed to lug a lappy to Cambodia and KL, so I spent $800 on the S510UN with an SSD and HD, 16Gb, i5, etc. It still came with Windows fucking Home!
Cheeky fuckers. Thank god for MSEA's.
Another excellent site...

Lenovo with 4gb, i3, 500gb hdd roundabout 10k baht at Lazada.
OT but OT: Looking for one of those hand held USB game pad things or whatever they're called for a 7 year old boy. PC runs Win10, hopeful to save my keyboard, have heard the wireless pads can be a problem so best to avoid, cost not important as the ones I've seen to date are all less than 2k.
Uncharted territory for me, are they easy to set up, do they need to be reconfigured for each game, should I delete my diary for the next fortnight?
Baldrick, would it be worth extending to 17k?
If want to spend a bit more, spend it on RAM.
More ram and a SSD
