Not much to go on for The Concubine (^) at IMDB

    IMDb rating: 6.2 (423 votes)

Wikipedia makes it sound promising though...

Reviews have been almost unanimously positive, with The Korea Times calling it "one of the best commercial films this year." Promotion and hype had singularly focused on the film's graphic portrayal of sex and Jo Yeo-jeong's nudity

    (n.b. I assume Jo Yeo-jeong is not a bloke!)

The last Korean film I watched was Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring which was a very observant meditation on a monk fostering and raising a boy in a remote Buddhist floating island temple.

^VLC actually has a menu option to download subs which I only found by accident recently since it is not on the 'Subtitiles' menu for some reason.

    >View>Download Subtitles

The dialog offers a search by hash or by title.

You then get a list of results, you select one and it downloads the SRT to the movie folder and loads the subtitles and switches them on.

Saves faffing around on the internet if the movie has already started and your GF says she can't follow the dialog.

Concubine looks good, how is Kes a foreign film? that kind of northern working class clap trap is truly dated.

Thanks for thepiratebay link. Will check it out once it comes online (says check back in 10 min. Wonder how long that message has been there?)

Have no intention to download VLC, no matter it's open source and free. More than happy with JRiver Media Center, which costs about $50 USD/year, even though I still have Windows Media Center. Figure that'll be binned by the Evil Empire before you know it.

Yes, that was my bad. I deleted the English.srt file before playing. Now works like a charm. Green coming your way.

So you gave it a pass, instead of Looper's famous rating system, based on some mofos numbers. That's the real looper!

    I give Lambik 9/10.

Perfetti Sconosciuti (Perfect Strangers) - 2016

Nice little Italian drama in the style of a play set round a dinner party table where 7 friends agree to put their mobile phones on the table and share any messages or calls that they get during the course of the evening with the inevitable relationship disasters that ensue.

    7.5/10

I'm so excited - Los Amantes Pasajeros

Almodovar films either grab me or they don't. I liked this one.

I liked the characters and story.

The entire movie takes place on an airplane.

    Elle -2016

Great French movie featuring intelligent and original treatment of provocative material.

Lots of different themes thrown in the mix and the film carries them all effortlessly.

Good old French film-making at its best.

    8.25/10

Also features a portrait of, and dreams of restoring and flying a Grumman Hellcat.
