This one is from only 5 short years ago but the purpose of this thread is to bring to attention good movies from not that long ago that may have slipped under the radar so I am changing the rules of engagement to 5 years.

    Magic Mike - 2012

It hard to explain exactly what it is that is good about this movie about male strippers in Tampa.

Maybe someone else can watch it and explain it to me.

It just seems like the performances of the various lead actors are all authentic and engaging.

Matthew McConaughey is magnetic in a supporting role and this seems to have been the start of The McConaissance from romantic comedy fluff pieces to solid roles.

    8/10

    Born on the 4th July

It was good to re-watch this movie in the wake of The Vietnam War documentary as it references many historical events.

Tom Cruise is very good as Vietnam vet Ron Kovic struggling with paraplegia.

I feared it might have dated badly being of 80's vintage but it is very strong.

    7.5/10

The Scarlett Pimpernel with Anthony Andrews.
In these Days of Testosterone filled, bullet doging, laugh in the face of death, Loud, Braggadocio Heroes, the quiet unassuming hero who can allow himself to be the centre of derision for the sake of a cause he believes in and carry on with a quiet strength of character and purpose in anonimity, strikes a chord with me.

Here is the example from the link

With irregular plural nouns that do not end with "s," add an apostrophe and "s." Examples are:
    .....
    People’s beliefs
    .....
It is a good one actually and an easy mistake but of course 'people' is already plural (irregular common usage plural of person) so we don't add an s to pluralise.

We need to add the s only to make it possessive which means the apostrophe comes before the s.

    Carry on Harry!

Oh dear, pedantry is obviously not your strong point, is it.

    Read what you quoted:

"Peoples" of course DOES end with an "s".

    Go and see the headmaster.

You are a gormless friggin retard if you do not even get that your own link proves you wrong.

Peoples is not the plural of person.

People is the plural of person.

It does not end in an s so you add 's to make it possessive, giving People's not Peoples'

You really are a friggin numpty Harry!

an excellent movie....a great script with very good performances. if you haven't seen it, you're missing out.

this trailer doesn't do the movie justice at all.

Harry you are the unqualified moron here.

I wonder what all the peoples reading this thread must think

People is the plural of person. If you are talking about more than one person you say People and it is a plural, which is what you were doing.

The only time you can use Peoples as a plural is when you are using People as a collective singular noun to refer to an entire population, which you were not doing. You could then refer to more than one population as Peoples.

You were referring to more than one person so the plural you were using was People and its possessive is People's

If you want to find a valid use of the possessive Peoples' then you need to be referring to something that belongs to more than one population not more than one person.

You really are quite the silliest illiterate muppet at times!

    But this....

Review a Movie from at least 10 Years Ago-media-jpg

this is apparently funny - dubbed in Thai with those all-too-familiar voices we've all come to know so well.

There are some titties, so I can't fault it entirely.

    Blue Ruin

Revenge thriller about a son going after the murderer of his parents upon the murderer's release from jail.

This is from only 4 short years ago but the idea of the thread is to flag lesser known movies from a little while back that may have been missed.

I picked it up since Bad Day for the Cut (a recent revenge thriller) was compared with it by a reviewer. That reviewer actually said that Bad Day for the Cut was no Blue Ruin (i.e. Blue Ruin was a better movie). I thought it must be a real gem then as Bad Day for the Cut was very good. But after watching it I actually thought it was not as good as BDFTC although still a very good taut and original revenge thriller.

Nice and short again at about 90 minutes. Worth a watch.

    7.2/10

Bad Day for the Cut is one for you Snakey... Set in Naarthern Errland!

Is that why you named it "Review a Movie from at least 10 Years Ago" >?

Just watched Bad day for the cut on Kodi not bad for an Irish film but terrible ending 6.5/10

    MOVIE INFO

In this witty and ultra-violent thriller, a mild-mannered farmer sets off on a bloody quest for vengeance after his elderly mother is murdered. As he tracks her killers through the criminal underworld of Belfast, he begins to realize that there was a darker side to his beloved mother--and to himself.

    *spoiler discussion follows*

It certainly did not take the predictable route with the conclusion. The introduction of the kid reframed the way you saw the woman hunting the protagonist. But the repeated re-framing of how the characters were presented was what I liked about the movie as a whole.

    Bernie (2011)

Just watched this last week after coming across a reference to it somewhere.

Great black comedy true story starring the ever-rockin Jack Black

He is on form in the protagonists role in this bizarre movie from 2011 telling a true story from the 90s

I did not know anything about the true story when i started watching and I think that improved the experience in this case (although that is not the case in some true story movies) so I won't describe it here but if you have not seen it is a must watch.

Clever and controversial to turn such a dark true tale into a comedy.

I did not know Matthew McConaughey was in it until he appeared which was a bonus.

    An easy 8.9/10 for me

I had never seen Paris Texas until just a couple of months ago. I thought it was surprisingly lame cobblers for such a famous and highly esteemed movie.
