What was the first movie you saw in a cinema?

This was my first (and only) family trip to the flics.
I was about five and somewhat in awe of the cinema itself which was one of those in the grand old style with thick carpets, polished brass everywhere and huge crystal chandeliers.

"From Here To Eternity". I went with my Dad. He loved that movie as he had been a Company bugler and young Private in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii before starting at West Point in 1939.

101 Dalmatians with my mum, I think I was about 4.

We had just got a dalmatian puppy so God knows what possessed her to take me to that, punishment for something probably.

I got my revenge though - she was asked to take me home half way through because I was howling the place down and the other film goers were giving her 'looks' and complaining about the racket.

The nutcracker soldiers were the biggest things I had ever seen and all I remember of the film or the day out.

"Ring Of Bright Water". Film with the stars from "Born Free", this time with an otter rather than a lion.

I remember being in tears when some thick twat killed it with a shovel.

My aunt took me to see Walt Disney's Pinnochio in 1953. I was terrified.
But my fondest memories were going to the matinees every Saturday afternoon at the Academy Theatre in Inglewood, CA where I grew up. I remember seeing 'The Day the World Ended', 'Them', 'The Blob', 'The Curse of Frankenstein' and dozens of other classics.

Strange how somethings stir old memories, Dad took me to see Jason and the Argonauts for my birthday, Vancouver I think.
After that we moved to England and every Saturday they had matinees, seem to remember a SiFi about a spitfire that could fly in space to another planet.

    Thanks for reminding me.

Can't remember the first one to be honest.
But I would say it was either Jungle Book with me mum and sister, or, a John Wayne cowboy movie that had every kid in the cinema kicking the seats every time the cavalry came to the rescue.
