    Unhappy BBC iPlayer

I've had a mooch through the pages here but I may have missed this .

Is there a definitive answer about whether you can bypass the controls and watch BBC iPlayer in Thailand ?

This one used to work abroad from uk, no reason it should not still:
    Hola extension for chrome

    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...fbnlmeio?hl=en

While we are on the topic
    - for anyone who wants to record BBC iplayer programmes for keeps-
    2 ways :
    first can use free Get_iplayer

    get_iplayer | SourceForge.net

    A bit of a learning curve .
When its downloaded and open ,
one way to get it going, is to add the programmes URL tight between the '' '' below ,
replacing the xxxxx and then pasting the whole line into Get iplayer and hitting enter, on you keyboard. Saves the files in mp4 to the desktop.

    get_iplayer "xxxxx" --get --modes=best --subtitles

eg replace the xxxxs with, say this from bbc iplayer website thats looks something like this

    lhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p026cd65/tomorrows-worlds-the-unearthly-history-of-science-fiction-4-time

Only other one I found that can record BBC iplayer, without being too temperamental is
    wondershare allmytube
    it costs money,
or get the free cracked version here - nice and safe ( though security might flag it as a virus - it's not )

Easy to use, just paste the bbc URL into the prog in and off it goes .

blue ........ that's a lot of thought there in your answer .

I'll work through that like a 5 year old ..... my lips moving ...... slapping my head ..... and hopefully I'll get there .

Hola - my buddy out there swore by Hola and then suddenly it wouldn't work for him any more so I know it exists but it's stored away at the back of my mind .
But I'll get it out when I'm there in January .

    I'll try both .

    Thank you .

try Zenmate for chrome.... free and lets you choose your location. I chose London so I can get BBC iPlayer. Works a treat for me and its easy to switch off when you need to.

I enjoy watching 'Masterchef', the latest season of which (Season 11) is currently airing on BBC. Unfortunately, the usual torrent sites (KickAss/EZTV/TPB) don't appear to have it available.

Hence a search required to bypass the perennial non-UK denial of iPlayer. What I found is: Best UK VPN Service | UK PPTP VPN Account for FREE!

This installs an icon on the top menu bar (at least with OSX), then you click on it to turn on and off. When you click on connect, a small window appears where you input the password (this is a 4 digit number, obtained from refreshing the website page - it appears to change daily).

Working great, though it will block downloads from the popular torrent sites (must be a UK authority block), though you simply turn it off via the icon to go back to your normal ISP.

The good thing about BBC iPlayer is that you can download their programmes for up to a month after their original airing, via their BBC iPlayer Downloads app.

^I nicked that off kat last week
This is my favourite bit of nicked software from last week, For downloading Videos off You Tube/Daily Motion etc

    http://kickasstorrents.im/4k-video-d...t10497790.html

especially if you have an iPhone, because it has a Smart Mode that converts the downloaded vids into MP4 format and then puts them in your Home Videos in iTunes, so as soon as you sync, it all gets moved to your iPad/ phone effortlessly

FILMON TV FREE LIVE TV MOVIES AND SOCIAL TELEVISION has been good for watching live TV
I say Film On has been good for watching Live UK TV ( and other Channels as it's all on one site instead of changing iplayers for different channels ) but I have been having a problem between 6pm and 11pm in the evenings. It's as if someone throws a switch and watching Film On becomes impossible for me between these evening times. I'm sure it's down to T.O T giving data preferential treatment to it's own totiptv and that's why I've been having problems.
I did read that " One way to find out if your ISP is doing odd things ( traffic shaping ) is to use a proxy connection, preferably an encrypted one, so that your ISP can't see what you're doing."
Well for the last few evenings I have been using IP Hider Pro 5.3.0.1 for viewing Film On with no problems what so ever. So if you are having problems with buffering with Film On in the evening try using IP Hider Pro

^ You should get an Android TV box, Boloa, you'd love it if you have a decent internet connection. I'm sure you'd pick up Kodi(xbmc) very quick too.

The thing does everything, you can stream all the latest movies through it, Icefilms is the nutz.

You can plug your hard drive into it with all your movies and TV shows, music etc, download uTorrent on it and download all your movies straight onto it . You can even download the streams onto it.

Plus you can download any app from the Google Play Store.

You can even use it to browse,

    It even washes your underpants

3400 Baht ... when Film On and the BBC iplayer is free......

I downloaded that Kodi(xbmc) and played about with it for a few weeks but didn't like it.
I'm not a slave to the TV ( like some ) but I do like to watch some programs of interest but I normally download torrents at night so streaming isn't that important....... that is, unless Spurs are playing at the weekend

Filmon has gone paid as from the 1st of May. It lets you watch for 2 minutes and then ask's you to login and says you must now pay $14.95 a month for their services.
For those that don't want the hassle of VPN for the BBC/ITV iPlayers then here is a site you can use on your PC

Watch itv Live Online Outside the UK

Has all the UK channels like filmon and a built in TV guide ......hope this one last's

Ta from me, too - great news!

Filmon going to paid-only is going to piss off a whole lot of people (including me), though I mostly used it for BBC News (and not all that often, either).

This link looks very promising - kudos to the guy!

    Cheers
