How to secure your STUFF on Facebook

This is a little tutorial I did for our friend Aging One. Problem is the other thread was over-run with senseless chatter and got binned. So this is how to protect yourself from just any ol' person getting into your photos. I'll do another one soon about how to guard your personal data and personals, like where you work and what you do and where you attended school.



You just click up there and a menu drops down. There you'll see some options, like WHO CAN SEE MY STUFF. Click it.



Now you get this. See where it says PUBLIC, FRIENDS etc? Just pick an option. PUBLIC I believe is default. See, if you don't do this anyone who knows your name can search you and see your stuff. Now if you're paranoid or pissed on a daily basis you might twerk and think someone has hacked your account when in fact it was your negligence to fault. Hope this helps!

Underneath this, it says...View as.

There can be quite a bit of information on this, pics, comments etc.

So, we've done what you advised (who can see my stuff) set it to friends...

Only to open (what do other people see on my timeline) and they can see, quite a bit!

View as .. there's a a tip box that comes up with an explanation. Lower right click ok. That's what the public sees. If there too much there you have some tweaking to do.

Say your work history shows and you don't want it to. Go to your editing options in profile and change your options .. friends, public, just me, custom. As you tweak in your profile keep going back to that View as field and check it again to see if it's right yet.

I never used to bother with it. Even deleted my account once but then reopened it. Great way to find old friends.

If you haven't tweaked properly you get all these posting from your friend's friends. Sometimes they're okay but usually just more clutter. But yeah, you can also adjust which of your friend's friends you want to see and which you don't.

You can also unfriend. The person you unfriend will never know he/she's unfriended. They will not see any of your future posting tho, and they and all their friends will disappear.
