A lot of great movies were made based upon themes that are taboo today.
Yet actors in movies made today can use such words never used in the classics like fuck, cvnt, cocksucker and other profanities.
One movie that could never be made today but is a classic comedy is Blazing Saddles.
And they used the N word as well.
A good laugh : Zero Mostel movies :
"A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" ( Richard Lester)
" The Producers " (Mel Brooks)
The Killing (1956): Directed by Stanley Kubrik.
I remember this being shown on BBC2's Film Noir season years ago...Definitely one of those lesser shown films that's worth watching. It's about a robbery at a racetrack...
Some old some new. Off top of head.

North By Northwest
Rear Window
Lawrence of Arabia

A couple more Golden Oldies for you....
1949: The Third Man-- For the music score, Orson Welles entrance and the scenes of post war Vienna.
1944: Arsenic and Old Lace-- I love the over acting by Cary Grant. It is more like being at the theatre rather than watching a film.
Great old John Mills film. One of the real British classics... but did you know the brand of beer they were looking forward to?
Holsten once used a segment from the movie to advertise Holsten Pils, implying the drink Mills was looking forward to was their brew. Shortly afterwards Carlsberg produced an ad with the actual clip where Mills reaches Alexandria.... and drinks a Carlsberg. ROFL
