So he's done a few clinkers in his day.....but makes up for it with all the brilliant performances and portrayals over some 50 + years.

A lot of great movies were made based upon themes that are taboo today.

Yet actors in movies made today can use such words never used in the classics like fuck, cvnt, cocksucker and other profanities.

One movie that could never be made today but is a classic comedy is Blazing Saddles.

And they used the N word as well.

The Killing (1956): Directed by Stanley Kubrik.

I remember this being shown on BBC2's Film Noir season years ago...Definitely one of those lesser shown films that's worth watching. It's about a robbery at a racetrack...

If anyone has not yet seen Tom Cruise in his fairly recent sci-fi movie "Oblivion", it has great photography and a few good twists.

A couple more Golden Oldies for you....

1949: The Third Man-- For the music score, Orson Welles entrance and the scenes of post war Vienna.

1944: Arsenic and Old Lace-- I love the over acting by Cary Grant. It is more like being at the theatre rather than watching a film.

Great old John Mills film. One of the real British classics... but did you know the brand of beer they were looking forward to?

Holsten once used a segment from the movie to advertise Holsten Pils, implying the drink Mills was looking forward to was their brew. Shortly afterwards Carlsberg produced an ad with the actual clip where Mills reaches Alexandria.... and drinks a Carlsberg. ROFL

I see fish. They are everywhere. They don't know they are fish.

That would be the same Tom Cruise that portrays the same homogenous character that comes across in every film he's ever been in?

Method acting is not his gig.

    Yet, he's championed and worshiped.
