    Best songs of the 90's

I've a feeling it's going to be a short thread because honestly I can't think of anything.

The only think I remember of the 90's is Keith Richards' remark about Elton John “His writing is limited to songs for dead blondes”. It was a bit blunt but if you take only into consideration what Elton John did in the 90's, it was somehow true. The 90's was a boring decade.

I'm shit at remembering when stuff happened, but wasn't the whole Seattle Grunge thing in the 90's? Nirvana et al?

Then you had the Brit pop. Oasis, Blur, The Verve, Cast, OCS etc etc.

It wasn't that bad a decade IMO.

It's the 80's we all need to pretend never happened. Human fucking league indeed.

Well remembered. I was thinking of Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan. Not good. Not good at all.

The 80's mostly didn't happen, or if they did, i spent them mostly bollocksed on hallucinogens, and as such i'm not altogether sure my memories are of real events or not.

^ If you are wearing make up in any of your memories and listening to Adam Ant,

I'd stick with the story you were just trippin'.

Not so much a song as a genre, the 90s were acid jazz for me:

You have to be kidding right..? What rock was you living under at the time?

The 90's carried on what the late 80's kicked off in terms of independent music production and the growth of events outside the control of the mainstream.

    Here's a start.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

If there's one song that sums up the 90's it has to be this, the spirit of the 90's started in '88.

There's nothing happening now that wasn't happening then.
It's only the modern trend for historical amnesia leads people to think otherwise.
How many Americans have died in the 20 years since this was released?

    2 step
    Ambient
    Down tempo
    trance

A homeboy, a hippy and a funky dread - total confusion.

Dee lite - Groove is in the heart

    Rozalla - Everybody's free

    Baby D

    Beats international

Acen - Trip II the moon

Origin unknown - valley of the shadows

Remarc - R.I.P [dj Hype remix]

    Thats my 90's for you.

Who remembers Dance Energy? Here's Bizzare Inc performing playing with knives. Looks somewhat embarrassing.

I can only assume Perota was trying to be funny and or provocative with this thread,
given that there can't be another decade that spawned more creativity than the 90's.

Anyway.. good idea. I do miss the naughty nineties

Jeez, what a load of shit music. Thank the Big Fuk that I was brought up (well, dragged up, perhaps) on more 'musical' music - i.e. the '70's and thru to the mid '80's. At least some of the guys from that era are still playing (if they haven't already dropped dead, of course). Don't think that (m)any of these '90's horrors are still raving it up....or am I wrong?

Which reminds me - saw a pic of Kate Bush recently. I actually bought one of her albums (many years ago). Nice thing (then!) and dead sexy - but stab my tits is she something pug-ugly and totally unrecognisable today!

Even Keith Richards has got to be better looking!
I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

That's weird. I loved that kind of stuff, but it feels a world away from the the Brit Pop era to me.

I must have been listening to that kind of music early 90's and then the Brit pop mid to late 90's.

Feels further apart in my memory though.
