Who owns a car camera in Thailand?
Where can I buy it?
What brand or model should I buy?

I use my galaxy tab as a car cam. In Seacon, Bangkea in the IT section on the top floor, they are selling a small HD device with 2 Inch screen. It has a tiny camera with a sucker pad that you can attach to the windscreen. Just under 2k but I don't think it includes the SD card.
My SIII does a better job though!
You bullied, you laughed, you lied, you lost!
There's a Thai company that posted a gadget magazine through my door the other night. They have them. I'll post the name when I get home.
Electronics section of any dept store or market.
Hd with 32 gig for about 2000 baht for a cheap one.
10k for a nice one with built in GPS.
I got a cheap one, its ok, but a bit fiddly.
If I wanted to spend real money, I would get one built in with front and back views.
I know I keep pushing Ebay but I find it good. 700 Baht incl postage to Thailand.

Death is natures way of telling you to slow down.
^That is bloody cheap. And the same one from the catalogue that I saw for about 3000bt.
^ That is the one I have, 1200 in the markets with no sd card.
It's ok, but the battery is useless so its always on charge and the controls are a bit fiddly. Video quality is so so, though my windshield tint may have something to do with that.
When I buy anything major in Thailand I always check Ebay out first. I bought a HP Pavilion DV6 Laptop from the US, incl postage, at a lot less than I could buy it here. That was including 350 Baht tax.Originally Posted by The Fresh Prince

I assumed for inside. I'd get a go-pro if filming outside.
Just seen this Ad. It looks like the same one for 995bt.
Lazada -
Daft question, but what is a car cam for?
^ where do you think all those funny gifs on the amusing pictures thread come from?
The only real use is as proof in an accident or BIB holdup. The chances of capturing anything newsworthy is slim, though probably better here than other countries.
^ Thanks.
Very odd.
My galaxy tab got me out of a couple of situations where the Thai person changed their tune when the insurance turned up. I just showed the insurance the video and job, loss of face on Thai which gave me great satisfaction!
If you have a smart phone why not use that. A bracket is about 200bht. If you need time lapse there are plenty of applications available, which isn't really needed here. As yet the quality on the standard video recorder is better than an applications I have used which are a bit fiddly and not that consistent.
^ The though I had about that was that my iPhone is already streaming music and playing GPS. This hits the limit of that car power supply to recharge, and is it worth the wear and tear on an expensive phone when a cheap gadget will do that job?
Pantip sell car cams/ bike cams/ personal cams (in a pair of shades) all sub 1000 bt
Same here, I use my phone for streaming my favorite radio station from back home in OZ.
Easier (for me) to just use a car cam that stays in the car always plugged into the charger, not hard to press record on it at the beginning of each trip and it just loop[s the recording over and over (holds bout 40 mins of footage before loop).
The Meth One's Fuck The Best !!
Fair enough. But mine is in a rubber sleeve so it doesn't get damaged or scratched. It is also playing music, with GPS running for my speed, and running Torque OBD. By the time I get home from my 2-3 laborious car journey, the battery is still half full.
But that's why I purchased it, for the above features and nothing else.
It's for recording daftness.Originally Posted by withnallstoke

That's impressive, what phOne?
Also my memory is full of music, no room for massive vids, though unless you are looking to capture YouTube gold a 10 min loop is probably enough.
