the softly softly approach, so beloved of police forces in australia and the uk, is ridiculous though. that dumb fuck should have been slapped, cuffed and banged up, not asked if he would agree to go to the police station. waste of time and patience.

Only trouble is, in the state of Victoria, where the video was shot, there is no power of arrest for drinkdriving. So the offender is asked to accompany the police to the station for a breath test. They can refuse, but if they do they are charged with 'fail to accompany' and the penalty is two years loss of licence.
