    The Best Films of 2011

For me there are still a lot of films to see including many on these lists and others.
    http://blogs.suntimes.com/scanners/2011/12/my_first_2011_ten_best_list.html

I would also include Meeks Cutoff and The Tree of Life on my list.

What other films of 2011 were memorable?

The new Sherlock Holmes looks a must too.

It's not been an epic year for movies , I don't think

I've mostly been enjoying TV series and dramas,

Game of Thrones was brilliant, so too Breaking Bad

I can't even pick one great movie this year,

    maybe "Warrior"

I still haven't found a decent rip of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy yet, so I'll reserve judgement.

The only one I've seen on that list is "Uncle Boonmee," and I'm curious as to why it is there.

'Breaking Bad' is definitely a classic.
Best to schedule a long weekend to view the entire series in sequence. Season 5 should be being produced as we speak.
They say 5 is the last season, but I am hoping they will continue in the vein of the Aussie classic 'Underbelly" that retells the real events of the 1995–2004 gangland war in Melbourne by highlighting a different kingpin in each 13-episode series.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was a crushing disappointment.

So 2011 was a pretty shit year for memorable films, a few good ones, but none that merit another watch in the future.

I don't have a favorite for 2011 - a poor year for movies. I must, however, express my absolute amazement that Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy keeps coming up on best movie lists. It is hands down one of the most boring, shitty movies I have seen in years. It sucked.

Your recommendations are usually on the money. Adding it to my 'must get' list.

^Read a few synopses first. I admit to liking movies that are unorthodox.

2011 has been very poor indeed,

could be an effect of Hollywood studio suffering from a lack of funding or inspiration because of the mass piracy problem ? without ass raping money incentives, they seem to have lost their appetite to produce good films,

Most of the good films from 2011, and this year thus far, have been foreign movies rather than Hollywood dreck.
