They do vary.....alot as I have experienced over the years here. While I don't eat pizza here all that much I find the NY Pepperoni pizza pretty good in Lampang City. I have learned you have to request extra cheese and Pepperoni to enjoy it. But I have tried it at a few other Pizza Companies and it's not very good. In fact one place in Chonburi actually used a mayonnaise sauce rather then your typical marinara. I tossed it. Who in the hell eats pizza with a mayonnaise sauce. Bad enough watching my wife add Ketchup.

People might remember Not The Nation.

A slightly *cough* satire-ish site that was created by the Western reporters/journalists that were all let go by The Nation and replaced with much cheaper Thais that could sort of speak English, around 2010.

    They did a piece:

Not the Nation: World Pizza Council Revokes Pizza Company’s Use Of Word ‘Pizza’

Military juntas and media powers called 'The Nation' don't exactly have tickle 'n laugh personalities, and thus the site didn't last too long.

I agree. It isnt a top pizza by any means but not bad when Pizza craving hits.

I am surprised the variance at each location. I mean it's a damn chain joint. You would think if one was bad they would all be bad but a few have been OK.

I have to say though on my.last visit to California I picked up a Mountain Mike's Pizza for my dad and I to watch the game. Did remind me how I miss a good pizza from time to time.

    That's right.

Jaysus, I'm getting Da Nang-esque flashbacks here.

Both had bases that were waxy card.

One had a Thousand Island salad dressing type sauce smeared between it and the 'cheese'.

    WTF.

Reckon the canary down Dirk's mine snuffed it hours ago, to be honest. Bloke's as high as a kite.

Toward the end of him we used to sit down and chat whilst the staff worked, we was a lovely bloke, sad he and his Mrs aren't part of Soi 4 now, like much of what made it a great laugh, gone now sadly.

In the philippines there answer to pizza company is the chain called Shakeys pizza which are everywhere and surprisingly good, not only are the pizzas ok but they often offer live music and cheap beer. The last one i went to was in manila and offered up a pork Adobo pizza. Cant go wrong

For me too. My first visit to a pizza parlor. San Rafael Cal, I would have been 12. They had two sides to the place. Both looking into the kitchen through windows. Kids on one side, parents on the other. Kids side had pin ball games and a shuffle board, the parents side had beer and wine, it was win win.

Back 25 years ago it came here and failed after about 4 years. The biggest branch was in Siam Sq. and had a buffet of pizza a few nights a week.

    Looked like this.

That is about how I remember it, but I am younger than you so shuffleboard was gone, and we had Asteroids, Defender and frogger along with the pinball games. I thought that all the Shakey's locations had closed here in Washington, but after reading BLD's post, I googled and found that there is still one location about a half hour drive from me. I just may have to do a visit.

Ah. Interesting. It seems the filipinos perhaps copied the shakeys model that was in the US? if so they done a great job because those shakeys outlets are in all the bigger citys in the P.I. i seem to recall a trip to shakeys sometimes resulted in A . Drinking a lot. B. Eating good pizza. C . Maybe finding a date. Cant do all that at dominos in australia

Jollibee is ok but no live music no chance of getting a date either. The sweet spaghetti is strangely addictive though

Would be a good, fun outdoor activity making your pizzas with the kid every, say, Saturday evening as Homemade pizza and 3 liter bag of Mont Claire night.

Have fun making the dough together, and firing up the wood, etc.

    Ham and peas.
    1kg lamb shank and peas.
    Peas and peas.

The topping options are endless, really.

    Make it happen, Mendy!

My first pizza in the US and in Japan was at Shakey's. I don't think they exist in the US anymore but they're the Pizza Company of the PI. Next time I'm out I'll take some pics.
