Unless it comes from China, in which case it could be donkey or pangolin or something.

I didn't see venison here so I just bought some cheap cubed beef in Makro. I found some Shao Xing rice wine - in the food section although it is 17% - and Chinese Five Spice, so I am planning a dinner of slow cooked Chinese style beef soup, like what they call Pha-Lo here. Don't go expecting any pictures.

    ^ I thought you'd chime in.

I don't believe so, no. The pudding was unusual and a special treat.

The daughter may be pre-teen, but is very active, 5 ' 4" which is a lot taller than most adults around here... and quite possibly taller than you?

How were your two burgers the other day?

    Quick update about pearl barley.

Easily availble is places like Villa/Foodland, but be careful not to pick up job's ears by accident.

When Mendip mentioned pearl barley I also thought it was a great idea and did a search for it on Google
(the closest Villa is over 1.5 hour away from me )
It seem that there is a lot of it available in Lazada and at , what I think is a good price. I ordered 500g for 75 baht plus delivery charge .

Dragged into Yayoi in Cebu Festival.

I went for the kiddie meal.

The first thing to arrive was the ice cream.

    Then my kiddie meal.

    Minus the cup of water.

    Then Edith's Chicken something.

Then finally me kiddie set's cup of water after we were finished eating.

Then to the cup of melted sweet dairy mixture.

Send us up one of those 16kg buckets of Haagen-Dazs eh Mendy.

    Fokin' Yayoi.

Venison in New Zealand is grass fed, same as dairy cows and beef cattle.

I would think that all venison (deer) are grass feed , as they live in the wild, or is the venison you buy cultivated (is that the correct word) for commercial use?
To be honest I don't know.
The Venison I am familiar with is the one shot during deer season in NY. and the one I had was pretty gamey , I assumed they eat grass in the woods, but who the hell knows . but the gameyness might had something to do with the way the animal was butchered and or the species. Are there different species of deer at different counties? The deer in Florida are much smaller than the deer in NY.

    Salmon.

And yeah on the Traditional Eskimo Thanksgiving. This restaurant is my wife's and I favorite. Always top quality, extremely fresh and nice options.

I had actually planned on trying a turkey this year but had to visit a few factories as we have new products launching. So I am on the road. Off to the next hotel today and relax for Mondays next visit.

I don't particularly like turkey , and No.. I mean the bird, well both, but in this case the bird.
At Thanksgiving family diner I would eat the stuffing, with a small amount of dark meat, and the side dishes of which there were many .
Unless we are invited to dinner where at someone else's, I would never cook a turkey and certainly not go some restaurant and pay for it.
I am in the same page as you, if I had my choice I would go to a restaurant such as the one you went , And give thanks that I am not eating turkey LOL

By gum. Haven't heard 'dear' in that context since me aging mother 20 odd years ago, possibly me grandmother 10 years before that. Cheers.

    The spread does look nice.

I'm actually an old British lady and thought it was more polite than saying "as expensive as fuck".

I caught Senorita cheating on her Beef Rendang tonight. She protested that she adds lots of other secret spices so it is not cheating.

    Dinner-img_20221126_212823cr-jpg

She threatened me with this painful looking vegetable if I made any more culinarily disparaging remarks and I was forced to agree with her and concede that I also use a paste to start my curries but add lots of other secret spices too.

Ceremonial tea opening. Like the honourable Japanese tea ceremony, but with bags.

    Dinner-img_20221126_215447-jpg

Plated up. The previous batch was a bit dry but this was spot on anise and chilli. Top marks.

Just in time for the kick-off between Australia and Tunisia. SS has an 80" TV so I head over for the Australia games.

SS is taking her citizenship application seriously and joined in with the opening chorus of Advance Australia Fair - Good on her

Get on the Yorkshire tea in the kitchen, it's a lot more easy going on the intestines.
