I had a feeling you would know it, but I presumed it would be because they are fairly common in your neck of the woods and you have got through a fair few at home.

Stuffed with spices, giblets of the bird and rice. Minimal meat but tasted somewhere between duck and the dark parts of a chicken.

My neighbour's wife cooks for us all the time so we get to try all sorts. She's brilliant, but I prefer her beef stews if truth be told.

^ No, I've never eaten pigeon mate but I prefer the dark parts of chicken to the breast, so I would probably like it!

Yogi and Maya have been working through our pigeon population at home but they seem to prefer it rare and still covered in feathers.

Tonight I re-aquainted myself with the girls at the Thai takeaway I've always used... but haven't visited for two and a half years due to a combination of Brexit and Covid. It was Penang chicken curry tonight.

There's no lunch in the office at weekends so I'm going off-menu tomorrow night... I've persuaded the girls to make me a double portion of larb moo with khao niao for Saturday's and Sunday's lunch. The girls are from Isaan, of course, and I have high hopes for a couple of tasty lunches!

If it weren't for the kebab, I'd have thrown this in Hal's great British tucker thread

^ If you'd have swapped the spaghetti with peas, cooked the gammon a little longer and added a pineapple ring and a fried egg, that meal on the right would have been pretty good.

Don't they make Alphabetti Spaghetti any more?

^ I missed a trick with not adding a perfectly poached egg and looked for a can of pineapple to no avail.
The gammon was perfectly cooked. 8 mins a side in the oven.
Peas go better with boiled or roast potatoes rather than chips.
You need something tomato based like heinz spag or beans with chips or mash.

See that on the right? Did you know someone's nicked your photo off here and are using it on tobacco warnings?

I think I saw alphabetti spaghetti the other week. Think it was Tesco's own brand.

Broccoli, mash, gravy, incinerated animal of some kind (I hope it's not pigeon), mayonnaise and jam.

Did you draw those ingredients out of a hat?

I reckon we'll all be in need of a cooling rectally inserted mini milk tomorrow after what we've all eaten tonight.

Not Snubbles though, he inserts them for fun.

^ I managed today without one, thankfully, cos the office was pretty busy today.

Tonight it was chicken with cashew nuts. Not great to be honest and a huge portion. I only ate half of it due to my ongoing diet so I'll have the other half tomorrow, Besides, I want to leave room for my pudding.

I also picked up a brace of larb moos for my weekend lunches and sad as it sounds, I'm quite excited about tomorrow to see how they are.

One of the Isaan 'girls' in the takeaway was nattering on and I think she wants me to be a male version of a mia noi... I didn't catch all the words, but it was mia something. I mean, I'm 55 so she's a bit long in the tooth but I'll wait until I've tried the larb moo before making a decision. I do like my larb moo... and after all, I'm here for 3 weeks.

    ^ I can't work out what's going on there.

I've never seen a restaurant serve food on a plate like that but also I've never seen someone at home stick their mushy peas in a little serving bowl?

And a restaurant would presumably have a back-up bottle of tomato sauce?

Judging by the ratio of 3 cashew nuts to half a gallon tub of slop, I'm guessing the eye-watering price of them in Thailand pales in comparison to that of Norway.

When you are on holiday in Blighty this year, check out a Wetherspoons pub.

    All will become clear
