Agree, and it'll often be 3 courses with breads on the side so it's still filling. Expensive way to eat, but still filling

Looks good JP but no way I am putting whatever that sauce is in the middle of the oysters on them. Maybe a dash of Tabasco, but that is it!

Finding horseradish sauce around these parts proves challenging at times. Tabasco is always the fall back. The Habanero is quite tasty

It is, but I prefer the original. It's a classic.

That looks like a wine vinegar and shallot dressing. Fairly standard. It has a French name I can't remember. If I have a plateful of oysters then I like to vary the sauces.

It has been a while. Sigh.

I think if I had a plate of oysters like that, the sauces wouldn't be needed.

Absolutely adore oysters. Mostly neat, but the vinaigrette does add a certain something.

Sadly, never trusted oysters in thailand, so a very rare treat.

Speaking of oysters . . . not a big fan of raw oysters, but Kilpatrick do the trick. We went out to one of our favourite restaurants a few days ago and it was sublime, as usual . . . and they were serving Tempura style oysters. Not tried them before prepared in this manner, so off we went:

Half a dozen natural Pacific oysters with pickled shallots and sherry vinegar sauce. The 1/2 dozen tempura version was with sesame and soy, wasabi mayo and preserved ginger.

I was concerned that the batter would overpower the oyster but it was very light.
