I thought I remembered something like that.
We are in Khon Kaen in the north of Thailand, where they sell mostly fresh water fish. IMO nothing compares with salt water fish , especial Pelagics. Mahi Mahi is one of my favorites. Merlin is a close second, For reef fish I love Red snapper .
Now you got me in the mood for a nice fish stake, grilled with a dash of lemon. .
I will go check at macro. maybe they have some.
Your Marling steaks sure looked good.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
Holy mother of Jesus!
Is that what you call it, looks like the dogs dinner!
Did you drop it on the floor then scoop it back onto the plate?
I see you've replaced roast garlic bulbs with burnt mushrooms.
Mint sauce yeah but mustard and lamb is for heathen savages
Shalom
Joe's got a point.
Willy does seem to pillage his food from bins.
That's it!
I'm going on strike, saucepans down!
Earlier , I don't remember who (No disrespect , just my age failing brain) had mentioned Yuvetsi , a Greek dish that involves stewed meat and Orzo pasta baked in a tomato Sause.
We had talked how it is difficult to find Orzo in Thailand and that in a pinch. small elbow macaroni will do.
Well I found Orzo pasta on Lazada, FYI you get better results if you search in Thai as my wife showed me.
So yesterday I got a big piece of beef from Macro, cube it in stew size chunks .
This morning I first sautéed the beef in small portions, (if you put too much you decrease the temperature of the pan and you don't sear it) then some diced onions,
once the onions were caramelized a bit, add tomato Sause, salt, pepper corns , I like a pinch of all spice, and a few bay leaves and let slow cook for over a couple of hours until the beef is tender.
- I didn't have good experience with Thai beef in the past, so I was surprised how soft and good it tasted.
Then a cup of Orzo pasta , For those who don't know . Orzo looks like rice but is pasta.
First tosh the orzo in a hot skillet with olive oil for a few minutes until golden brown. and then pour into the stew meat , add a bit of water, cover, and place in the oven for 30 minutes at 350F, Then take the cover of, turn the top burner on and let the top brown a bit for 5-10 min. If need be add a bit of more water.
Serve with grated parmesan cheese The beef melted in your mouth.
Definitely a stick to your ribs meal.

Very nice BB!

Yes I did and was surprised how good it came as a stew. I had tried to use it to make ground Beef in the past. and it was terrible.
But for the stew it came out surprisingly good.
I got a big chunk of beef, at macro, it was about 4 kilos , I cleaned all the fat and stuff, ( my dogs loved the trimmings LOL) .
It was cheap , I think about 200 bht a kilo.
I got enough stew meat for three big meals like that. I vacuum sealed the rest that I did not use and froze it for later use.
I think I will try a beef Vindaloo next time with it.
Well, i love stews, long and slow cooking so that's great news re the Thai beef. I use shin in the UK but its gone up a lot in price, used to be pennies when i was young and no one used it, same with cheek and skirt. Should go great in a curry.
PS i nearly did a BB typo there, chin instead of shin, thought that doesn't sound right
Certainly appears that way. Oh well.
I had a hard time finding it, them my wife did a search on Lazada in Thai and found it.
Apparently doing a search in Thai returns better results. Something to consider next time I do a search.
Anyway, try it, you wont be disappointed, also works well with chicken and ground beef.

KWs plate looked fine. Not sure I would find those mushrooms to go with lamb, but different strokes etc.
BBs post will likely have me searching for orzo pasta at some point......
in the US it is easy to find, I am sure Walmart has it, (just checked and it does) Here is a little more difficult to find but I posted in post #27170 how to order it at lazada .
I briefly described how I made it in my original post, but rather than post a long recipe ,attached below is a video from YouTube, The recipe is very close to the way I make it. I don't put in the Honey, and cinnamon he uses. But it might be good that way, I dont know.. I have never tried it .
It is really very easy to make, it just takes a little time. But it is not time that you are really doing anything .
Just slow cook.
I stew the beef in a cast iron crockpot . that way you can take it of the stove and put it straight into the oven.
Very important to sauté and brown the Orzo, otherwise you will get a sticky mess.
