I take it you don't eat much Italian food but that's an extremely common starter called Brushetta. A few dots of balsamic vinegar on top and it's my idea of a perfect opening dish, try it next time you see it on a menu!

Yes, salmon with a white wine sauce + garlic mashed potatoe and side salad. I tried a bite of the salmon and it was beautiful, perfectly cooked too.

Lasagne. Served in clay pots seems to get more common these days in Italian restaurants but they still serve it by the slice in pubs, I don't care how it's served as long as it's good and this was great.

We've got about 6 Italian restos within walking distance of home but hadn't been to this one (Marco's) for years, the Italian owner of our favourite place took his young family home after being forced to close during the first Covid lockdown

I can't make heads or tails out of that sentence, Buck.

The "F" didnt register so the first word is an "IF" any good detective would have deduced that dear bsnub. It's Elementary.
and there should be an "It" between" Wouldn't" and 'Boil"

"If he did what you suggest wouldn't it boil them in the juice of the vegetables rather than shear them ? "
IMO you should have made at least tails of it

I eat plenty of Italian and have spend significant time in Italy where my sister has lived for the past 50 years.
I did say bread , tomato and basil , so I claim the first one as win!!

Had a tasty spread of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern classics cooked for me the other night. Absolutely phenomenal.

It was one of those times that you're cursing yourself for getting full. Plenty of stuff from BB's home turf here.

Was not trying to be smart. But the word shear was included in your other garbled message. Making it as bsnub said hard to understand.

Are those stuffed grape leaves I see in that white bowl to the right ? I tried to zoom the picture but it did not get big enough to see.
I have a jar of grape leaves that I have been looking at for a few weeks now, waiting to get over my laziness and make them.
Looks like a great meal , I am jealous!!

Yes. The other dishes are roast lamb, stuffed tomatoes, stuffed peppers, a kind of moussaka and Molokheya (the soup). Tzatziki not in shot.

    I hate you!!
I cant get decent size tomatoes for stuffing here in Thailand. I often put all these Thai small tomatoes in the food processor and use them to make the filling. and I stuff Bell peppers of which I can get plenty.
No one else in our family here in Thailand eats them, so when ever I make them , I end up eating them for a week. LOL
Where did you get all that great food?

Two pints of lager and a packet of crisps should do the job

You'll know she's a keeper if she asks for a pickled egg with a drizzle of the vinegar in the packet

Was that steak dropped on the floor first or is that the bargain basement £1 version?

True. I remember the pre-internet days. Now with wifi and unlimited data. Not only we can see each other, but sometimes we talk for hours.

My father still rushes phone conversations and always concludes with a "Well, I better not run up your phone bill too much" before saying goodbye. Even on WhatsApp...

My boss, the VP International of a company I worked for out of San Jose, met me in Japan for a rather large contract with the Tokyo Police Department. We got absolutely wiped after the agreement was signed and he fell asleep while on the phone to his wife in the US . . . from the room phone. Well over 2k USD.
