Some really nice prawns from the Naklua seafood market this morning, boiled up for dinner.

    ^ That looks great.

I'll wager those weren't your hands peeling those prawns.

My wife peels those things so fast... and one of her good points is that she loves to eat the heads. I buy some prawns and she likes to suck the stuff out of the heads leaving me with the main meaty bit. Win win.

I really can't figure out these Isaan people at all.

^^ One thing - a Thai would just roll with it.

    That's quite sensible.

    Do that, eh?

^^ Yeah yeah... I should have maybe worded that better.

But it's amazing... we get a bowl of prawns and she peels them, gives me all the meat and then just sucks the brains out of the heads with some rice and chilli shit.

The chickens get left with next to nothing.

    ^^Cats do the same.

I'm told (by humans) that the heads are very tasty and in tom yam they are much sought after.

Not by farang though, including me.

I bet jeff will be along soon, to tell us what this signifies.

    Thank you.
I always liked pine nut in my turkey or chicken stuffing (bread, celery, chicken livers , pine nuts, raisins ) but I have never seen them in Thailand. Any ideas?

Yeah definitely not my hands. The rules are: I do the cooking she does the prep and cleaning, which to me is fair

Oddly enough my Missus doesn't eat the heads, but she's saved them for the nooden soup she'll cook tomorrow. By cook, I mean she buys these packs with everything in them to make the soup (prawns, nooden, 'shrooms, chili, etc) and its just a matter of adding them with water to a pot and boiling it all but the prawns heads will be added to increase flavour.

47 baht more expensive than Siamburi or not, I'm going back tomorrow to completely clean the fookers out.

Kid wasn't able to calculate the saving of 190b x 5, so got to learn the term Fuck loads (with an Indian head wobble)

Think it's usually store specific (could well be wrong), clearing old stock. The dates were BB Sept 2021, though I see a sneaky June 2021 sticking out in the bottom of me stack in the photo.

Baked barrumundi with half a baked potato last night.

I even found some courgettes at Makro this week so chucked one of them in the convection oven as well.

And the last of the beans from the garden. Who needs peas?

So you cook for yourself and your daughter, I am assuming. What does the wife eat? Furthermore, when you are away does the daughter have to go back to whatever it is your wife eats?
