The Osso Buco turned out well.

Started off coating the veal in flour and s and p before searing it and making the sauce (mirepoix and garlic with tomatoes, white wine, stock, bayleaf and thyme). Couldn't fit it all in my trusty pot though so had to use a throwaway oven tray.

In the oven you go for just over 2 hours.

Served with a gremolata (it was new to me too until about 3 days ago ) and a touch of parmesan.

I followed a couple of recipes on Youtube and it was very very tasty. As I can't fucking drink at the moment and have to eat rice almost every fucking day of the week, it's nice to treat myself every now and then.

    Joyeux Anniversaire Eric le roi!

Its all that salty fukkin Bisto.

Is it stomach or colon?. Tom's no proctologist, but he'll have a damn good look at it for ya.

I have a friend who has not long been diagnosed with ulcerative collits(sp)

He takes tablets for it now and is right as rain.

Gastritis and acid reflux. I've been taking tablets to help with the inflammation, but every time it eases or seems to have gone, I have a beer and some spicy /acidic/oily food and it's back. The doc tells me to keep taking the tablets, but I feel like I'm going round in circles.

It's not a bad condition in itself, but it can cause severe problems further down the line if left untreated.

Hence being on my 3rd beer free spell this year.

Many years ago when I lived in Singapore I had severe food poisoning, and the antibiotics I took must have killed off the good (as well as bad) bacteria in my stomach, upsetting the balance. This resulted in months of acid reflux.

I well remember waking up in the early hours with my stomach and oesophagus burning every time I'd risked a few beers or some rich food. A glass of milk or some Rennie would bring tempory relief but the burn would come back.

In the end Nexium cured it for me... have a look if you haven't already.

I was unable to buy canned salmon again as stock hasn't arrived for 3 months but I found some Argentinian canned corned beef on special and purchased a few cans.

Salmon rissoles was the original request from my daughter but she then asked for Meatballs in a tomato based Italian sauce with marinated spaghetti.

Well the corned beef was the meat base for the Meatballs and to be honest probably the best tasting I have ever made and a fantastic texture.

Worth a try for those that like meatballs.

Do a two-week course of omeprazole. That should knock back that acid reflux otherwise known as GERD.

I had a bad attack of GERD a few years ago. Really awful. Ended up having to go to the hospital, I could just not get relief. Crushing weight on my chest.

So a couple of years later when I had almost EXACTLY the same symptoms (but, interestingly, not quite as painful) I tried to ride it out. Big mistake as it was a heart attack.

Symptoms for the two can be very, very similar.

1 Nexium a day will sort your acid reflux out. They're not cheap.so try and find a generic brand.

You can then eat and drink what you want

    You can thank me later

That's what I've been taking. They do help, but not to the point where I can eat and drink what I want.

OK then get off the PPI's. They do not work for daily use. Try a daily Famotidine and get off those PPI's.

I finish them at the weekend. Funnily enough, the best I've felt was when I stopped them last time (although I'm not feeling too bad at the moment).

Fish pie tonight... cod and salmon.

And not a pea in sight... well, apart from a few I chucked in the pie.
