I'm certainly no cook... just picked some basics along the way and have way too much time on my hands... and a swanky new phone to take the pics!
You've put me in a quandary now... I had a very enjoyable pie baking session this morning... house to meself, Neil Diamond full volume and the pastry even rolled out without breaking!
I even had enough pastry left over to make some sausage rolls!
I was gonna show off a steak and kidney pie dinner tonight, but now I'm worried it's too "English home cooking"...
Made a wild boar and butter bean casserole with garlic and herb dumplings last night - it hit. the spot.
TD masterchef 2020 in the making here....
There's gonna be some stiff competition
I know you had a go at beef stew the other night. Have you ever used a slow cooker/crock pot before? If so you should consider picking one up. I use it all the time and it makes excellent stews, chili, slow cooked BBQ ribs etc etc. All you have to do is chuck all the ingredients in and come back 8 hours later and dinner is served.
Chitty, Aunt Bessies Dumpling mix, chuck in some dried mixed herbs in mix up and drop on top of yer casserole 15-20 mins before its finished cooking, no fuking about with flour and butter and fats etc.
Time to get into a bit of baking for the wife and I rather than homestay guests. First off was a variation of a pineapple upside down cake. Added the content of an own grown passionfruit. Was worried it might be too much but the passionfruit flavour turned out to be subtle. Quite liked it. Went down a treat with some vanilla ice cream.
Don't know how to make it big
(that's what she said)
^ Is there suet in them?
Think i'll stick my effort today on the blokes cookery after looking at this page
No suet - just butter, flour, water, salt, pepper, a little thyme and a squeezed cloved of garlic.
Doing potato and leek soup with toasted sourdough this evening. Shall post results.
Nice!
Double click on the pic and select the size of pic you require, cheers KW.
