Love that stuff, going to spend a week down in Chant next time and it'll be Durian harvest time on the family farms, they have one farm devoted to Chanee my favourite so i'm am planning on a proper Crab and Durian binge. The only drawback is that i suffer with that overheating thing with Durian, hot weather and Chang - Durian for brekkie then.

Oh yes . . . but they need to stop cutting them down off the trees . . . let the fruit drop - then it's ripe.

We used to live in Chanthabury, where we set up our Rubber Plantation business and factory, we'd get our durian quite cheap as we'd always ask for suk suk nim nim . . . no-one else wanted them that way. Any further conversation was limited as neither of us spoke much Thai, though my wife was decidedly better at it

You are right but sadly most of the fruit is exported to China so they ripen en route. Last year they were apologising as we missed the main harvest and they only had "old" ones left i struggled through a fair few kilos over a week helping them get rid of those.

During the season, a good friend of mine, a local teacher in Malaysia, spends the weekends along with his colleagues sitting under the school durian tree with a bottle of whiskey.

Personally speaking, I can't stand the things. Nevermind the smell, it's the fucking taste that knocks me off my feet. Like the inside of a dustbin (I imagine).

Not really, unless you want to be impressed

I'm trying to diversify away from peas... so made baked carrots and tomatoes with Parmesan while the potatoes were baking.

Coordinating all this was a nightmare, and a whole carrot was a bit much, to be honest.

I wish I could find decent gammon steaks in Korat.

^ A lot of it is due to Headworx's tip of covering the peas in baby oil. They don't taste so good but look fantastic.

My daughter now takes the piss out of me for taking food photos... and I can't really blame her.

But we all need hobbies!

^I should have saved the link and posted it here but somewhere or another online yesterday I got completely sidetracked (as you do) and was watching a video that popped up showing different food photography hacks. Brushing steaks with the right combination of black and brown shoe polish makes them look irresistible

Well I'm three days in and no noticeable effects (+/-) to report yet other than a couple of really rather spectacular bowel movements.



Edit: actually one thing I've noticed is I'm far more satiated. I ate breakfast this morning far later than I normally would and haven't even bothered with lunch today as just not feeling hungry.

I'd say marginally larger just because of the cuts I've brought.
