No homestay guests to prepare for today so we decided to cook something for the second meal. Had a defrosted smoked chicken breast from Makro so decided to chop that, an onion and three medium potatoes into 1cm cubes and throw into a casserole dish. Added some frozen mixed vegetables and a small can of herb and cheese sauce usually used with pasta. Stirred it up to give everything a bit of a sauce coating then grated a generous amount of vintage cheddar cheese onto it. Baked for one hour at 180 degrees. Could have done with some salt being added before baking but the wife's taste buds seem to go a bit hyper with salt. So decided to eat mine with a bit of tomato sauce on it. Comfort food, while I enjoyed it would have been better on a cold winter night sitting in a comfortable chair in front of the fire...perhaps in my next life...

For a moment, I thought that was a Fisherman's Pie.

    It still looks very nice.

But, for a moment there, I thought it was a Fisherman's Pie!

    Very nice, BIP...
Almost has this everyday hearty peasantry comfort way about it [a compliment].

    Cheers!

Actually you could replace the smoked chicken with large flakes of white fish, even smoked haddock. Using the tinned herb and cheese sauce means you can get away without having to make a roux.

A check up with the doc yesterday brought the good news that my blood pressure has come right down... hopefully the increased exercise and cutting right down on the booze is having an effect.

The bad news was my cholesterol is too high. So, no more fried food... another avenue of pleasure now cut off. There aren't many more avenues left now, to be honest.

Anyway, baked chicken breast, baked potato, baked carrots with broccoli.

No beans, no peas, and I just didn't want to take the risk of gravy...

    Gonna need a bigger boat.

Me order from that Paleo Robbie place just turned up...

    Mmmm... meat!

Wonder what I'm going to have for dinner. And lunch. And breakfast.

I'm actually about to do a bit of a diet experiment to prove a point, one month of only meat.

That's it, nothing else, only meat for every single meal. True story wish me luck!

    ^ I'd start with a T-bone steak!

Looks tasty - could you risk a little bit of grated cheddar on the potato?

Presumably, you don't have to cut everything out, just some moderation. A couple of beers a week, maybe a whiskey or two once a week or fortnight. There's pleasures to be had, maybe enjoyed more when they are fewer?
    Cycling should be banned!!!

Bit slow mate I absolutely demolished that

Damn it was good! If that's the benchmark I'd recommend that Robbie's place to anyone.

It does look it to be fair but it was medium rare and left a plate load of blood / juice that I unashamedly licked clean

Ok I will believe you... This time. The next steak I want to see a nice juicy red piece of meat also it is important to note that the red juices on the plate are not blood. Luigi has made that point clear.

It’s awesome...I ate that lovely t-bone and then had some bacon bits as a snack.

Not just meat though. Veg, nuts, eggs, etc. Not a very sparse diet when you think about it.

Oh nup this isn’t Keto or low-carb it’s legit carnivore.

Basically only meat or fish. The only exceptions are eggs and cheese.

Yeah optional though, I think the hardcore don't do either.

I'll do eggs for the vitamins but not the cheese.
