You painted a pretty bleak picture of norgie tucker. BUT hang on a minute a frey bentos pie would actually be better? Sorry . But ive given them several chances and am now of the belief one of them bad boys will never make it in my shoppin trolley ever again. . To add insult to injury the last one i bought from a minimart here in Lao set me back $12

BLD, £1 in the UK and can't be beat in between 2 slices of bread with a hangover. also all pies have to have liberal amounts of malt vinegar applied before inhaling.

^ Exactly... cheap as chips if bought in the UK. Not quite like home cooking, but great for an emergency! And if eaten straight from the tin, no washing up required!

I seem to be having emergencies most days at the moment so can see my stock of Frey Bentos going down fast.

Tonight was different though... lamb broth from a couple of lamb shanks I found at the bottom of the freezer. This had real potential, but when I started eating I realised I'd forgotten to add any salt, and also forgot to thicken it up with some stock at the end, so it was a bit tasteless. I'll have to remedy that tomorrow - I made a big pan full to last a few days.

^ I know... makes me wonder as well.

She's Aussie/Thai - spent a long time from mid teens growing up in Oz. You'd have thought she could at least cook a decent pie!

^ that is a very fair point.

I mean, once the yellow fever lets up and you realize you've fuked your entire life up with a little psycho and her extended family, at least the cooking is good, great in fact.

    Lunch...

...and a healthy one at that. Made by my far less than impressive skills.

Some salad ingredients and fresh fish:

    Dinner-20191130_140751-jpg

Steamed the white fish first for about 2-3 minutes then added the salmon for 2 minutes; cooks very fast a small piece of salmon.

    Dinner-20191130_141818-jpg

While the fish was cooking, I cleaned the lettuce, broke it apart and added some balsamic dressing. Cut the free range tomatoes to please TRkw and some celery (as the Chelsjki sing: "if she don't come I'll tickle her bum with a bit of celery, C-e-le-r-y... C-e-l-e-r-y."

    Dinner-20191130_141630-jpg

Lastly, ground some mixed herbs over the white fish, and jobs a good 'un - tasted pretty good. Very quick and simple.

^ That looks good... must try something like that meself sometime! (but not today)

I was helping my daughter with her homework this morning, when she looked up at me with her beautiful big eyes and said...

"Papa, I want pie for lunch!"

I've never felt so proud in all my life.

    25 minutes later...

Choice of beans or no beans...

Two happy campers! And no comments about social services please... she'll be having lamb broth with fresh veggies tonight!

^^ Bets there comes a certain point in your life you take time out to reassess when you feel pressured into saying you have to eat and enjoy steamed food and barely dressed salad. I think that time has arrived for you.

    Nope, I am not there.

I will get back to 80kgs, lean, young looking and sexy to please the ladies before I am 50. I've about 4 months, and it's not looking good, but I must stay positive.

(In case Paps looks in on this thread: the pic above is not your dinner for tonight... pervert! )

I asked if they had any crunchy toad without the bones. The waitress said, well they wouldn't be crunchy then would they." So we settled on the deep fried baby..duck. I meant quail. No, not Dan.
Didn't Bush shoot him by mistake on a bird hunt years ago?

Lesson learned, know your bird before you go on a Bush hunt with quail.
Imagine this guy on walking street past twilight. ..Your head is the game.....no?

No, tis the bill fold. Walk away..

The Lao should be ashamed of themselves for allowing Isaaners to modify and upgrade their simple cuisine to a much better overall standard.
Decent Lao chow can be experienced throughout Isaan.

This has to be the best looking page of dinners in a while!

Last night's prawn Madras which defeated me and kept my hit churning all night, still unable to unleash the beast..

Hopefully today's roast chicken will move things along...

Chitty ... you have a way with words ... I've gone off my breakfast now.

I just hope you and Loops never team up (with his endoscope) and combine threads.

^^ chicken dinner and curry - nice. There's an ok curry place around here, lunch special is 7,000 won. Last time I went with a workmate, got the larger lunch special, 4 different curries, nan, rice and lassi for 11,000 won each - a nice option.

    Today's lunch/dinner is just like yesterday's.

Made some improvements: some cucumber and more seasoning. Also, added a nice Starbucks Nespresso latte...

The wife presented me with an edible meal tonight... I await tomorrow with interest!

Roast pork with the trimmings... pretty good it was too!

I felt duty-bound to reciprocate for the daughter... Kit-Kat surprise!
