Well...
After many hours in the oven this is what I had. It smelt delicious... like a proper roast meal.
I don't agree with lying to kids, but the daughter asked what it was and I knew there was no chance of her eating pig's heart, so I told her it was a new kind of chicken.
I went heavy on the peas (her favourite vegetable!!!) to make sure she got some food down her. Also, cheesy baked potatoes is always a winner.
All things considered, I found it it pretty offal (), but at 58 Baht not an expensive meal for the four dogs tomorrow. I think there's a reason why we stopped eating wartime food after the war finished.
Amazingly, the daughter loved it, and even took the leftover 'chicken' from my plate as it was so good. I feel a bit guilty now... I hope she doesn't ask for it again.
Is this a case of not liking something cos you know what it is? I don't think so as I'll eat anything... but who knows?
Anyway, a big pudding tonight I think!
Looks quite different to what we'd call a stew in Britain; it's more of a soup/broth to my eyes, but I don't doubt you on its taste.
No mirepoix with the base vegetables though?
Fair enough. I think I added flour the last time I made it but used cornstarch instead this time that may be why it is not more thick. That broth is loaded with flavor though and the red wine really added richness. It definitely eats like a stew after one bowl I was full.
I sautéd the onions and some garlic after I browned the beef but not a mirepoix no. Using a pressure cooker I was worried about "over cooking" the veg and I think I was right as everything was cooked perfectly after 30 minutes.
Looks nice Snubby, but yeah of the soup/broth variety - nothing wrong with that!

Wife said apple strudel but seemed like apple pie to me. Whatever you call it, it was delicious with a little vanilla ice cream on top.

^ My mum used to make apple strudel, but I don't like dried fruit and my dad didn't like almonds, so she had to have different sections with different fillings before she rolled the thing up. That's brought back a memory!
We had baked chicken breast with baked veg last night... probably the best meal I make at the moment.
Cheddar on the spuds, Parmesan on the courgettes and corn.
The dogs had baked pig's heart!
The thread is really heating up! All fine offerings here and I would happily snarf those up. Tonight I will have my left over beef stew and I must say I am looking forward to it.
