It has the curly ends as well, like a fern, and the little leaves. Very recognisable before cooking

Just to show I'm not a one horse pony...

Pla chon (snakehead fish), Chinese style in oyster sauce.

A Thai fish caught by a Thai street dog from an Isaan pond, and cooked by a Thai gardener.

    An Isaan Pond

It don't get less 'traditional English' than that!

I've never eaten pla chon before. It had solid, earthy, deliciously tasty flesh. I feared the worse and thought it may be like pla duuk (catfish), but it had none of that greasiness and the texture reminded me of dense monkfish flesh. I would highly recommend trying it.

    And the money shot...

And of course, followed by a new pudding, 'After Eight Surprise'...

Just went for a pizza (Korean pizzas are average at best, but it's delivered for $16 or so...

Bloody wife stole a piece, so she'll be in for a thrashing later...

^ Much as I abhore the notion of junk fodder on a Monday - espeically during these trying times, Betsy - that doesn't look too bad. I t probably doesn't contain a great deal of actual 'food' but I'm sure it filled you up.

And a fine effort from Bollski - obviously his second cheat day of the week.

    Personally I went a bit bonkers with the soup this weekend;

Friday was tomato - a gargantuan lyocpene (google it) hit in one delectable serving.

    Dinner-image0-1-jpg

Saturday was lentil soup - big on protein and vegetables

Yesterday I did a beef stew, big on veg, big on beef, practically a whole bulb of garlic. Basically I'm constructing a gastronomic force field around my family.

You are quite right, Mendip, an oversight on my part..., she'll be in for a double thrashing later... Don't much like that Issan food although the pictures are great and the ice cream looks nice.

Mr Slaps' bread (and salmon) looks better than my pizza.

&, as for Dilly's lamb roast, I most certainly would...

^ Thank God for that... I was suddenly worried that I'd made a huge gaffe and it was you wearing the fluffy pink fleece. You never know these days.

Why isn't it cold in Korea this time of the year? Let the ladies layer up ffs. More fun to strip them off one by one.

    Carbonara with cress salad!

I've heard the latest thing is to have an egg on yer carbonara... I stirred up a freshly laid bantam egg on top while it was still hot...

It actually doesn't look that bad although I'll take your word for it regarding the taste if it was even more of a disaster than normal!

^ There's a guy on my dog walking route who grows endless seed trays full of cress and supplies a lot of shops. I've started swapping a bag of our eggs for a bag of cress every week. I reckon bartering is the way to go with work uncertainty and a global economic meltdown.

Trouble is... I don't know what to do with it all. I'm having bladdy cress with everything!
