Bloody hell Nigel you do eat well and I notice you are a big fan of orange juice.

I for one always prefer to drink water with a meal as fruit juices does spoil or more so confuse the taste of some dishes.

    Here's almost a topic on it's own.
I don't drink anything with a meal except breakfast.
Dinner, I have a drink after, breakfast usually a cup tea with.

Did a nice Chicken Tikka Masala with Tandoori Wings last night.

I used one of these little spice packs from Tops and it was probably the best home made Tikka I've ever done.

They've got a Chicken Marsala (Italian) one too that I might give a go tonight.

Or just get the spices separately. The one included that I can never find is Garam Masala.

    In the pack is:

    Garlic flakes,
    Garam Masala,
    Cumin,
    Chilli flakes,
    Paprika

They've got quite a few I've just found.

I've seen a misnamed Seppo one called 'Curry Powder' from, I believe, McCormick.

There's also a local brand who have black and orange labels called Cooking for Fun who do one called Massala.

    This is their curry poweder

65bt. So about the same as a pre-made sauce but a lot more flavor.

Yep I think you're right. I can only find 'Curry Powder' on their site and on the Tikka Masala page Garam Masala is the only one that has no link to it.

White meats - a crisp Chardonnay

Red meats - a robust Claret

Thai food - half a litre of Lau khao to get the fucking taste out of my mouth

same same me Koojo. I can never recall there being drinks at the meal table.
Imprinted on my brain from my youth were all the TV sitcoms and dramas where the actors would all seemingly have an alcoholic drink as soon as entering the room.
I would only see alcohol in the house around Christmas if I exclude the bottle of (medicinal cough cough) brandy under my grandma's bed.

Pots of tea were brewed on a regular basis and to this day I must have a cuppa after dinner and just before retiring for the night

Sorry for the digression but it struck a chord

If you are in Bangkok, which I believe you are there is a nice little Indian minimart in the shopping arcade of the Rembrandt Hotel. All spices can be found there in various pack sizes both whole and ground. Prices are cheap

I also prefer a nice cup of tea after a meal but it is a family custom here to drink fresh cool water with our meals.

She thought it was both well hidden and accessible.
Well it was at least accessible

Cheers Larry. There's another street near me in Silom next to the Indian temple that sells pretty much everything, but I always forget the spices when I'm buying poppadoms.

When a child the school used to provide a bottle of milk every day to each pupil. The milk crates were placed out in the school yard sometime after school started and were available to the pupils to help themselves at breaktime. In winter they were frozen and in summer on the way to being cooked.

    I still can't drink milk
