As requested by you and Jackmeoff....

At Thai Watsadu they have some bigger ones Pottery deals. Same process.

As a side note: I cut out the bottom using my Makita Saw with diamond blade. I suspect if you try and chip it out you will break the pottery. I started smaller then Thai BBQ coal holder as I wanted it to basically hang as you can see in the pics.

    Cheers

Drilled holes to let the juices run out.

I set "Oven" on bricks so the Thai coal BBQ is suspended.

    Cheers

Missus wanted roast chicken, I wanted roast pork, we're both happy now. With some pumpkin-cauli-garlic mash (try it sometime) + steamed sprouts that were then rolled in butter and the obligatory gravy. All good.

I can understand this, and hated them with a passion as a kid when they'd be boiled to an almost mush consistency and were simply horrible!. But then a friend cooked me some one night and as my plan was to put a tail on her later that evening, I ate them and they were good!. Her method - which is still what I use today - was to steam them until they're just tender then put them into a sealed container with some S&P and a nob of butter and gently roll them around till they were well coated. Try eating them prepared this way sometime and if you still hate them, that's fair enough then!.

Growing up 3 big No's in our house was Brussel sprouts, Okra or Collard Greens. If my brother and I smelled them we asked to eat over at our friends. This was for 2 reasons, firstly they tasted horrific, secondly my Dad would drop ass that would make our dog wanna leave the room.

I do however love BBQ'd Broccoli and Asparagus with a hint of pepper and a draw of Olive oil.

Good job. The hanging part is interesting but I guess that allows your to moderate the air flow better?

detested sprouts until I moved to Thailand weirdly enough! Was in a restaurant and popped one into my mouth for old times sake, and really like it. The chap had boiled them with a dash of vinegar in the water which stopped the bitterness. A bad one still can make me gag though and it is with some trepidation that I test them each time.

these veggies were unknown in New England when I was growing up...in grad school I had dinner at a black friend's house: collards cooked in, I think, pork fat...delicious with corn bread. Much later in the Gulf, an Alabama belle offered me a jar of pickled okra: excellent to the taste and crunchy to the bite...cross-cultural experiences within the same culture...

I believe sprouts have gathered a bad reputation through unreasonable conditioning.

Trim b-sprouts accordingly. Steam ever so slightly. Cut in half....
Saute in sweet butter, pinch of garlic and thyme until desired caramelization develops.

    Lovely.
