    Lazy the other evening, had some melted swiss raclette cheese on toasts (later topped with a fried egg) with pickles and a piece of salami. I admit one toast was a little bit burned, mai bpen rai.

    Looks and sounds nice, Wallalai. I've been doing lots of nice cooking, but I haven't taken any pics of it.

    Tonights superb dinner from my wonderfull little wife , my favourite Massaman Gai plus Pad kee mao , this was cleared up so well the plate didnt need washing ! get in !!!!

    Lastnight my dear little wife cooked me up this for when I came home cold and hungry ,, Penang Moo + some sweet + sour veg + kai look koey , son in laws eggs 555 in sweet tamarind sauce + shallots .

    Dear oh dear did I ever muller that !

    I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

    Ok tonights dinner a bit of a joint effort , yesterday I bought some steak + kidney so Jan marinated it overnight in some " secret " sauce ,,,,,,,, yep I know ,dont ask ,anyways here we go I cooked up a nice bit of steak + sidney + some new pots ( the lord knows where in the world they came from in December ) + some carrots and shallots in the stew + some broad beans from my garden ( via the freezer ) a drop of cauli and ofcourse nearly xmas so I had 2 of my yorkie puds, even though I say so myself this was ,,,,,er ,well lets just say there was little to wash up ,,,get in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Just before the floods hit I hit a Thai mate who lives in California over for dinner and did barbecued ribs, cajun potato salad and some garlic bread. Just now getting my kitchen back in order.

    Good job on the cooking AO.

    Since beginning my sojourn back to the States about 3 weeks ago, wifey and I have had the opportunity to eat some of the foods we have not enjoyed for the previous 3 years while in Thailand (except for when we took a few trips to Europe where we had some good Belgian, German and Italian foods). and I'm not talking about the fast foods cuisine that the Americans get unjustly accused of eating but the fine home cooked meals that I enjoyed while growing up. The spicy corner butcher prepared Italian sausages, pig in the blankets, stuffed green peppers and cabbage roles, pot roast, and so many other good foods. We were out at the grocery store the other day and the Thai wife points out to me how much she missed the grocery shopping in the States where the variety and selections of food are so extensive when compared to what we see in Thailand grocery stores. Oh the breads are just fantastic. It had been years since I had a seeded Jewish Rye bread in which to make my Ruben sandwiches. A great Sour Dough bread for eating with some hot soup. A hearty Italian bread for cleaning the pasta sauce off the plate. It has been great to have some of these foods again. The wife still cooks her spicy Thai noodle which she does so well because family members here in the States enjoy her Thai cooking.... and the price for eating Thai food out at one of the many local Thai restaurants is so expensive when compared to the cost of the same dish in Thai or making it yourself here in the States.

    Don't get me wrong, we also have eaten foods that might be considered fast food even if not from a fast food restaurant. On Thursdays we go to Arcade where the Amerc/Thai group that we are friends with and socialize with. Hot Wings with a choice of 10 different kinds of sauces/spices for 10 cents (3 baht) a piece and 16 oz draft beers for 30 baht. Needless to say we have a good time bowling because the bowling games are also only 30 baht each on Thursday evenings. Some bargains to be had.

    Looking forward to our return back to warmer climates though.

    SEA, I remember 10 cent wing night from the Niagara / Buffalo area. The ones in your pic look like the real deal. I'm drooling. One of the few things we can't get here is Frank's Hot Sauce. I'll have to see if my parents can get it in Ottawa and bring it for me. That would be amazing!

    Let me tell you Nat, my younger brother grows his own hot peppers of several variety, he always makes hot sauce and at Christmas distributes some bottles to the family members. Spouse and I get 6 bottles (3 each), one for this and the past 2 Christmases in which we were not here in the states to enjoy. We will be having some good hot sauce to take back to Thai with us. :-)

    I bought some Swiss cheese in Villa Market Bangkok, jesus that stuff stank.

    I only bought it because it was 10 lousy baht cheaper than this



    Try that with HP on toast........ mmmmmmm

    I need a new toaster now too. i followed someones advice and turned it on it's side.

    The first 2 came out great, a lot of smoke the second time

    Natalie....I went to school in Rochester in the early 80's and also remember the 10 cent wing nights! That was before buffalo wings were popular around the country - when I returned home to Massachusetts you couldn't find them back then.

    Now living in Malaysia, where I couldn't find Red Hot - I didnt want to bring it from the US because it only comes in glass bottles. I found a budweiser wing sauce that was passable, but not great. Much to my delight about a month ago I went to a different expat-centered market in KL (about 3 hours from where I live) and found Red Hot!

    I love these southern curries but my ol lady is unwilling to make them, she says they are not healthy, and that's becasue they are not issarn food .

    As an aside I went for a bike ride today up around the area yr wife originates from.
    It was the coldest ride I have had for over a 2 years, 19 Deg, brisk wind & slight showers.

    Bloody frozen solid I was, could have done with a nice curry to warm me up when I got home.
