I've never been able to take a pic of food with a food.

I've always had a decent camera, but having a tool doesn't mean one can use it, my photos are proof.

Well, it's the trouble's birthday today and she went down 'the temple' late morning, freeing me up to celebrate properly. First I thought of a a Pizza Hut pizza, but nah... then I thought of Q'ing up some some ribeyes and stuff, but no. I wanted to properly celebrate.

    Salmon fishcakes, what else.

I really enjoy the wife's birthdays because it means she won't get back early. No surprises while I go mad in the kitchen.

Before Snubby goes into one, yes, these were wild salmon, none of that farmed stuff.

There's currently a dearth of Brook baked beans in Korat but these fiamma seem to be OK, despite being foreign. From the writing they look a bit Spanish or Italian, or maybe even Greek or Turkish looking at the strange letters.

    But anyway...

The dogs also enjoy the wife being out and sneak in to say hello... a much more relaxed household all round to be honest. It's not the same without Dan mooching about but that's the way of things. A remarkable coincidence the Queen passing a few days after Dan... but the gap soon gets filled. Tommy and Maya... Charles and Camilla...

Eight fine salmon fishcakes for my wife's birthday celebrations.

    Four for the freezer...

And four for tonight's celebrations. Cooked on the wife's new hob!

Luvvly jubbly, it don't get better than that. Happy birthday darling!

    A Happy Birthday money shot...

Even Anna and Yogi popped in to celebrate, taking advantage of the temporary cessation of rules during the Kommanant's absence!

Yes, they are fine looking new Birthday floor mats for the kitchen... but what else do you get for the wife who has everything?

Maya likes them... or was she howling about the Birthday pudding?

Birthday chocolate lava cake with hot homemade vanilla custard. To be honest a bit stodgy if you forget to microwave the lava cakes...

    But still very edible.

    Happy birthday darling!

    Wild Salmon and baked beans!!!

    Respect!

Is the wife having a traditional one week long birthday celebration?

All different groups of friends all over the place and minimal family time?

    Steady on!

That would mean attempting to communicate whilst her phone is constantly in use and I don't mean switched to vibrate.

That reminds me of the abomination I was served in a movie cinema in Jakarta after ordering a hamburger. They literally made a burger using a slice of (chicken) ham. Added some soggy lettuce and raw onion. Thousand island dressing. Burger buns, not toasted.

it was so bad I repressed the memory, forgot all about it until about six months later I ordered the same fucking thing again!

You do not need an excuse as all of your pics are vomit inducing. My worst food pic is light years better than any of the disgusting shit you post.

How did you come into that tin Mendy? Kirkland is a city here in the Seattle suburbs, and it is Costco wholesales generic brand. I would not think you could get that in Thailand.

Is there any need for that unwarranted abuse Bsnub!

Quick take the tin foil of your birds ankle tag and ship her back to the state penitentiary before the day release alarm is activated

Interesting. As far as I know there are no Costco stores in gulf countries, so I wonder where they come from.

^ All this talk sparked my interest... it's a slow day in Korat today.

I went back to the same kitchen cupboard where I found the tin of Kirkland salmon last night, but it must have been the last as all we have left is Asda salmon and that definitely came from the UK.

I went to the bin... but the bladdy wife had emptied it this morning so I had to go outside to the big blue bin out back. I was lucky because the recyclers on their salang hadn't been yet, and I found last night's empty tin of salmon.

I for sure have never been to a Costco store, either in Thailand or the UK, the only two places this tin can have come from. Either I picked it up in Villa Market in Bangkok or from the UK on one of my trips back. There is a third option... a colleague of mine may have picked it up for me in the UK and brought it out to the boat I was working on... and maybe he shops at Costco? The mystery deepens.

Maybe the answer is in the Bar Code?

If I have to be a 'Royal' I think I'd prefer to be Charles rather than Andy. Or of course 'King Charles' as I would now be known.

Hey, wait a minute... isn't Diana the one who was killed in a high speed car accident in Paris? We've got some dangerous roads up in Isaan...

In Saudi they are available in 'Tamimi' supermarkets, which is a offshoot of 'Safeway'.

Well, those two images tell quite a tale, Mendy. It would seem that the salmon is a product of the USA. As it is, pink salmon, it was caught somewhere between California and Alaska. In the second image to the right of the barcode, you will notice the following "Trident Seafoods". They are a local commercial fishing company that has a rather large fleet of boats fishing all over the north pacific.

So the salmon was caught by Trident and canned by them, then sold to Costco who then slapped the labels on the tins and imported it into the UK and Iceland.

    Most likely the answer.

That makes it even more confusing because Safeway and Costco have nothing to do with each other.

    They wouldn't have to.

    Kirkland to Tamimi.

    Guess Costco has no interest.
