I like cooking with cider as well as drinking it. I vaguely remember buying it in 1/2 gallon plastic containers years ago. Several places I used to go in Somerset and Devon but can't remember the villages now. Only one comes to mind, a small village named London in either Devon or Cornwall. The shop was just a wooden counter, bit like a sheep barn, cider was very dry and pale and potent as hell. I shared a flat with a chef at the time who used to drink himself unconscious on cider every weekend. He made excellent pasties when he was sober.

    I hear you,
So with the remaining dough from the Calzon , I made Pepperoni pizza, and I have to say it was the best pizza I ever made, I could sell it in Thailand and make money.
This time I put the pizza in a cast iron skillet and then in the oven at 350 F.

Place near me just added a kebab to their menu. I couldn't wait until Saturday night to order one. Very decent.

I don't get the "Like" function in this forum. Why if you have given a "Like" to someone you have to wait a month or something to give them another. Are "Likes" expensive to buy and TD has a limited supply of them and must ration them?
Anyway Edmont I owe you a Green, Everything looks amazing, I can taste those caramelized onions an mushrooms.
Can you put the carrots on the side for me? I love them.

Corned beef , cabbage an potatoes.
I read some place that during the Great Potato famine , the Irish had plenty of corned beef but without potatoes to go with it they starved to death. Is it true?

You certainly can't, but you can beat an egg.

You can't beat steak and kidney pie either, and full-on S&K pie production started today.

I am so happy that my daughter loves steak and kidney pie. She asks for it every night and I know exactly where she's coming from. I'd be well pissed off if she wanted chicken and rice every day.

But if you eat your favourite food every night does that spoil it? Not with pie this good I reckon.

Great effort and i bet she's very happy dad is home. Steak and Kidney is one of my favourites. If i am going to be critical i think the gravy in the pies could be thicker, not that it wouldn't stop me biting you hand off for a slice.

    ^ Nice Joe.

I spent a while working out what everything was. I think I got everything apart from the flat slug thing on top of the rib?

I've been back just over a week and it feels like I never left... apart from the lower blood pressure for obvious reasons. It's rising rapidly again now and I'll soon be back on the meds. I'm spending loads of time with my lovely young daughter and trying to pass on my wisdom, but can't seem to get past 'Never get married'.

Tonight was baked chicken and potatoes. No peas. After seven months I've forgotten which Dad's Army episodes I've watched on Youtube, so can start again.

    The money shot...

Cheers Mendip, that was onion from the gravy.

The beef on the bone was a first and very tasty, the dog enjoyed the bone.

Had egg fried rice with a sprinkle of turmeric and some deep fried pork last night..

My lovely young daughter has been hassling me for casserole since I arrived back home last week, and today I relented.

I thought it a bit strange since although it's a bit chilly at night up here just now I wouldn't have called it casserole weather.

I plated it up tonight and she asks where the pastry is... turns out she got sausage rolls and casserole mixed up.

Regardless, it was a damn fine winter meal!

Easy meal last night. Had a craving and it hit the spot. Nice to have my kitchen back.. Steak sandwich with grilled onions on a nice French roll.
