This morning I had a three inch slice of Marks and Spencer Cherry Genoa cake. It is mostly fruit with a minimum amount of cakey stuff holding the fruit together. This was washed down with a cup of Kenco Rich instant coffee. My dog Snowy wanted a dog chew but we did not have ones he liked. He refused a Pedigree meat strip and a similar one bought at Aldi.

I am not certain but I think I saw a bird just now. I am dressed in what I call my "dog suit", comprising trainer bottoms and a sport shirt, because I am not going out this morning until I pick my wife up from work. I am wearing shoes, not slippers, in readiness for that journey. I have set my Alexa device to remind me to turn the gas on at 9.30 am so that our pork joint will be cooked to perfection so that it may be eaten before the football begins. The apple sauce has already been made and fills a large basin. This because I shall be eating some with cream as a dessert at teatime.

I could swear that was another bird. Storm Callum blew directly from the south and not from the southwest. In consequence a willow tree was felled by the extreme wind. I did not plant this tree, he sort of came by nature as an interloper. Perhaps it was karma that he was blown down. The rest of the trees, not illegals, remain standing proud.

No hedgehogs this year. The fox is due soon.

Would you like to see a picture of my fallen willow ? My neighbour wants it for his log burner.

    ^ Looks great.

I eat quite a bit of Jok when I'm in Thailand ... just not the pork guts please.

Sometimes, in the West () we use the packet stuff, but it gets a bit salty and we try and limit the amount
we give the kids. Plus we have to pick the green bits out for them.
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

Still some Cherry Genoa left but today I had to eat a Marks and Spencer custard tart washed down with Kenco instant coffee. No birds this morning and foggy. I did not have the remainder of the apple sauce yesterday but will have it today. Although not strictly "on topic" I shall be having cold roast pork and chips for my lunch. My supper will be minced pork, cherry tomatoes, lots of green chilli and a bloody big Kai Dao on top. Just saying, innit. I like pork.

Green veggies are both bitter and low in calories.

Avoiding bitter food is an evolutionary instinct (poisons are generally bitter). The low calorie nature of green veggies is again a no no for kids. Their bodies need calories and lots of them, so they are conditioned to high calorie sweet stuff.

Which I suggest is what Thai kids get fed. Green or otherwise.

Balance ... sometimes we achieve it.

Normally the kids have some banana, dry cereal and chocolate milk and then some egg (in one form or another) but today is a bit special.

No Kindy today and I have home work to do so it's toast with 1/2 strawberry jam, 1/2 Nutella for one.

The other one got toast spread with condensed milk with Milo sprinkled on top. Well done Mum

    At least it's wholemeal bread.

Maybe a hash brown and an omelette will follow. I hope so for my sake.

Avocado on toast for me and sometimes they'll have a bite, so they are open to new tastes.

I had a bowl of Tesco honey boulders and a cup or two of Yorkshire tea.
My dog had a chicken carcass stuffed with winalot.
It took three poo bags to collect his hand warming offerings.

Two perfectly fried eggs on top of a slice of thick toasted tiger bread.
Swimming in a lake of baked beans, mini pork sausages and a rasher of thick smoked bacon on the side.
Washed down with a mug of Yorkshire tea.

The only way to start the day....

At the risk of being called a heretic, cold pizza is possibly even better than hot. Love it.

For curry -mix it with some rice, and give it a fry. Delish.

Not much of a brekkie eater usually but this morning i woke up ravenous. I knew i was gonna be fucked for finding the elusive FULL ENGLISH in vientiane which is as far as im concerned the breakfast of champions and usually is a pre curser for havin a bevvy no matter what time of day and can quite often lead to some serious shennanigans. This morning i settled for eggs benedict. Came on a croissant with2 large bits of smoked salmon and a couple of pouched eggs. Hit the spot and ill be back for sure. Gotta remember to get a picture this time.

    Hollandaise sauce was good to.

I think a real biriyani requires a bit more than frying left over curry and cooked rice together - but - yeah - not far off.

The problem is kids food preferences were fine tuned over millennia, where basically there was two options - near starvation or glut. Evolutionarily, it made no sense for kids on the edge of starvation to waste energy eating things with low calorific content.

The current situation of constant glut is causing havoc on their metabolisms.
