Breakfast

^Have to agree with you on the home-fries, they needed a few more minutes to get some colour into them. I could have had 2 sausages, but traded one for a Jimmy Dean :).

A nice part of that brekkie is the beans, they're Texas style with a lovely smokey flavour and made in-house as you'd expect at an American style restaurant. There's only about 500 other places around town I could have gone for a Brit style fry-up, normally get the pancakes when eating at this place which are really good....

I try to use Thai German bacon, but even it I find is now full of water. Seems all commercial bacon I find here has water injected for weight. When you first start to fry it water rather than fat comes out. Seems I proved my theory while back in the states. None I bought there did that.

Nice wide slices on that bacon so good luck..

Except there is not an American restaurant stateside that would consider serving beans with breakfast. Texas style baked beans are meant to be served alongside some BBQ ribs or brisket or maybe a hamburger. :)

True (I've spent plenty of time in the States) but this is Thailand and to suit European tastes, anything resembling a fry-up will have beans on the plate. But being an American resto, that's the type of beans they use.
I prefer Texas style smokey beans in bbq sauce over Brit style baked beans in tomatoe sauce by far :spin:

Nice enough food and all that - no complaints at all - big on various websites and recommended to us everywhere we went in San Antonio, but I had as good as, if not better, Tex-Mex in Dallas for 3/4s of the price if I'm being honest...for brekky, lunch or dinner.

European tastes or do you mean British? I do not recall any place I have been to in Europe having beans for breakfast.

The Continental or European breakfast is normally a boring blend of bread, cheese and ham. Luckily they have us Brits to show them the way:UK:

I rather enjoy a continental breakfast add in some muesli and fresh fruit and it is about perfect. I can not do a heavy American or British style breakfast all that often to be honest. A must to shake off a hangover but I skip it most of the time.

I prefer hickory or apple wood smoked myself not a big fan of maple bacon.

A confession: I gave up trying to cook eggs that way long ago. Fried, scrambled, boiled, always come out just fine. Poached, never could get them right :(

Mrs. R taught me that trick: drop of cider vinegar in the water first and give it a whirl.

Personally I don't see what the cider vinegar does but then I make an absolute mess of it myself so who am I to argue.
