Vegetarian breakfast today very tasty.
Oh no... I wouldn't go anywhere near that - looks like Thai countryside food...
(Isn't there a MacD or KFC around your area to get a decent breakfast???)
Yuck. Only for savages. Sophisticated people go for the healthy alternative: a MacD breakfast (lunch, and dinner)...
So as luck would have it, some Danish explorer in the Antarctic pointed me to a smallgoods shop that make their own bacon (and have done so for a very long time). I went with the Middle Back, cut thick, and for the first time I tried cooking it in the oven. Needed more time, but I was very hungry and really don't like crispy bacon anyway. Couple of Pork snags too...
that is a winning breakfast. brilliant...
^^ and ^ Thanks, but I fucked it up as far as timing went and can do better next time. Will cook the bacon till it's nearly ready first then worry about the snags and eggs. But oven bake looks to be a great way to do thick cut bacon.
Have another experiment planned to tomorrow's brekkie that I saw on the net which involves a tortilla, grated cheese, ham, an egg, tin-foil, and some oven time. Pics to follow if it works, or not if it doesn't
Nice bacon, could handle some right now.
That cooked bacon looks really nice.
^Yep. Lesson learned and I'll get it right next time.
Another failure with oven timing and breakfast today, another lesson learned but now I know the correct cooking time. Saw this done on the net and it looked good so it was worth a shot..
I gave it 15 minutes @200c, it needed 20 . Will get it right next time too.
Attempt #2 at the above, got it right this time.
Still have a score to settle with oven baked bacon though
^ That looks spot on... A ham; cheese and egg toastie wrap.
Bet salad cream and HP would go well in there
Yes, added some salt and pepper too before wrapping it up. I'm just learning about these and thinking about possible ingredient combos but they stick together nicely and would be perfect fodder while watching sports.
Never had any luck with microwaved bacon, even stoned off my tits on pot it just never seemed any good
The Danish watery stuff back home always did well in a microwave
A return visit to "Poached" this morning. Very diverse menu, and today was the turn to try their Pulled Pork on Sour Dough toast, topped with a couple of poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. The apple matchsticks and sprinkling of pomegranate added to the overall taste, and a couple of hash browns on the side. Very good.
Tip top presentation.
^ Had an avocado this morning on some brown toast. For a weekday breakfast it's an absolute cracker.
Looking as good as it does there, I might start splashing out on some salmon and making it a weekend thing too.
Being quite civilised, I obviously shoo-shoo away most Thai breakfasts.
Given the subarctic weather conditions, and that I was wrapped up in 3 different blankets,
This steaming hot bowl of miscellaneous objects went down like Dill in the Pintsman.
Is that fantastic view from your house, or are you away at the moment? I'm very envious either way.
And also envious of your subarctic weather conditions... it's got very hot very quickly in Korat.
