There are 2 advantages of keeping it in the fridge:
1. The ants cant get to it
2. The sugar doesn't stick to the plastic spoon/scoop that I keep in the pot.
The disadvantage is that it takes up a lot of space.
Is that a Durian portion in the container above the sucra ?
No its a packet of peanut m&m's. And cheers, I'd forgotten about them.:)
don't put sugar in the fridge, the condensation when you take it out will make sugar turn to concrete. Put sugar in glass jar and leave it in the sun. The little fckers hate being that hot and leave.
It hasn't so far, I think the tub is pretty air tight its just not ant tight. And there seems to be less condensation then when it was out of the fridge because the sugar is not sticking to the spoon in the tub anymore. Hang on, lemme check.......
Yep, its definitely more powdery in the fridge.:)
I have the same problem with sugar puffs. I tried the fridge but they fused together. Getting the ants out with the sun worked though, this method is a Thai innovation.
We have those nasty little red fuckers, when they bite it itches like crazy, but they are lower down the food chain for a reason.
(1) Put a lump of cat food on the floor.
(2) Wait until they've marked out a trail going straight to the nest.
(3) A kettle of hot water down the hole. Pops the ants, eggs, and demolishes the nest. It takes em weeks to rebuild and start looking again.
:kma:
I used to sit on the balcony. Can of spray and a lighter and blast the fuckers
dealing with ants here can be a full time occupation. I use lots of honey rather than sugars. Two methods I've found reliable in beating the little suckers, one the water in a small container which I keep the bottle of honey in. The other being using talcum powder in cups that the larder/pantry cabinet legs sit in. Just make sure that nothing touches the cabinet above the cups to allow the little buggers to get across.
Ants really don't like talcum powder. If you doubt it.... put some sugar or other sweets out. After the ants have found it, break the trail and circle it with talcum... amazing how nuts they get trying to get out.
Actually circled my kitchen in Makham with talcum.. did away with the ants...

I hate em too.
But I bought a garden spray can, load it with water and Shelldrite from the chemical garden store and thats all for the fucking ants.
Then I called the exterminators and they come once a month and check and spray, have had no ants in the house for 6 years now, so it is damn well worth it.
If you can't get Shelldrite, Chaindrite is good, and not to spendy when you figure the gallons of spray you get with it.
They also make a spraycan with chaindrite in it, but I never bought any, CMN wife uses it tho. I prefer a garden sprayer.
we use these guys กำจัดปลวก กำจัดแมลง มด หนู แมลงสาบ : Pest Control Services
4k per year
Here I use Phetchabun pest control and I get 2 years guarentee for 4k baht.
Plus there were rats in our attic, climbing a tree and jumping onto the carport roof I was told, and the workers noticed some chewed wire insulation in the attic, so the pest control but up bait stations in the attic and I cut the tree back away from the house, don't really need another fucking mango tree anyway, seems to have fixed the problem.
did they drill holes into foundations and pump the liquid in ?
Drilled a lot of holes in everything, pumped some shit and smoked everything else, and sprayed shit all over.
Then while they were there my father in law had them come over to his house and then the sister in law had them to her house too.
the guys came here first time and drilled and pumped , then back every month for the year to spray the skirting board edges.
They came every month for the first year and I told them if we needed it then we would call, so only came a couple times the second year and then after that they come when we call and we pay 500 or 1000 baht each time, depending what we want done, I am real happy with them.
But in CM I only paid for ants and they came every month , 2 year guarentee, 3500 baht.
all in all , money well spent.
The local shop sells sticks of 'chalk' round here.Don't know what it is,but ants won't cross the chalk lines!
the chalk does work , but they still find away of getting around it.
