The most expensive pizza in the world ?

What could that pizza served by the restaurant Don Corleone be to cost as much? "The cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, the heart of salmon and 50 grams of caviar," says Mohamed Benimam, the owner himself. "This is the most expensive Swiss pizza" jokes the restaurateur. Rather pleased with the extravagant price of his cake and makes this find to talk about his restaurant. "It's obviously a marketing stunt. My idea is to bring people in this affluent neighborhood. "

This was achieved? Despite prohibitively expensive for most customers, this very special pizza has sold a dozen times since the restaurant opened in late 2009, provides the tenant. As an afternoon where a couple of Russian citizens rushed inside the restaurant after having parked the Bentley on the sidewalk. On the menu of lovebirds: Vito Corleone two pizzas - one is 580 francs - and two bottles of Cristal champagne. The value of this beverage to the unit? 590 francs. A nice addition to be the envy of all restaurant space.

In the evocation of this valuable customer, Mohamed Benimam's eyes still sparkle. "Times are tough for many people, but Geneva is a city where you have many people willing to spend their money." It's not for nothing that the house has introduced valet parking. Enough to give a little side to select the place. For poorer citizens, the restaurant offers a pizza Mohamed Benimam almost identical to its flagship product. Only the dosage is different: 20 grams of caviar. It will cost you "only" 180 francs.

Still, for purists, using caviar as an ingredient pizza is a bad taste easily forgivable. "The caviar is eaten very cold, says Tatiana at Caviar House & Prunier in Geneva. Ask caviar on a hot plate alters its taste. But everyone is free to eat as they wish ... "

The price of this pizza is approximatively 18560 baths.

Step 1: Take run of the mill pizza
Step 2: Slap a dollop of caviar onto it
Step 3: Proclaim "World's most expensive pizza!" and get free publicity

The people in Twitzerland should stick to hiding Nazi gold and making overpriced cuckoo clocks.

Yes, it surely is. Despite the class-orientation that is associated.

Aside from that....how is it that some circles have developed grand schemes as it applies to pizza?

Pizza is a simple food that shouldn't be fucked with. Two or three basic ingredients tops.

I believe this layering upon with exotic items, less the ideals of more is better, defeats the foundations of a pure and simple product.

One has to know that the Americans introduced this "hybrid piled on higher" pizza concept. Fuck them and all the variants of gourmet pizzas.

    You're right Surin,

Originally the pizza was more like the plain Margherita pizza than what we can find today. Cheap and available ingredients on dough.

I have worked with American chefs, they seem to have a compulsion to include every ingredient available into anything they make.

The cleverest ones like Charlie Trotter can pull it off by creating some wonderful dishes and combinations, most seem to just throw everything they can find into a pot and proclaim it 'new' or 'ground-breaking'.

If that doesn't work they put umpteen different kinds of cheese on it and try again.

All seems very strange to me, but then again I had 17 different organic European cheeses blended onto my condor egg omelet this morning and the Chilean glacier melt washed Dead Sea salt used to season it was cut a little too small so I might not be the best person to comment..

I've got a few old shower heads knocking about the place, I wonder if these would be accepted as part of the payment...
