The 100 best sandwiches in the world

Should provide a bit of discussion...

The 100 best sandwiches in the world-1-50-png

100 Best Rated Sandwiches in the World - TasteAtlas

Some points of contention for me:

Bacon butty only at 49 with avocado toast at 44.
    Roast pork sandwich, US?!?!?
Bocadillio de jamon is ranked as is a banh mi with pork and various other piggy ones, but no ham, pickle and cheddar cheese on granary?
I would also question the inclusion of anything including an arepa (although the Venezuelan ones are better than the Colombian ones).
    No falafel on the list?
    No shawarma either?
Meatball sandwich should be higher too.

    Fuck right off.

Choripan is a good shout though and it's good to see the croque monsieur in there as the French don't have much of a culinary tradition compared to their cousins over the English channel.

I think he'd be taking umbrage with the seppo bias on that list.

Not that they don't make some absolute crackers across the pond, mind.

Which reminds me, there doesn't seem to be a shrimp po'boy on there.

Any list missing BLT has to be suspect, as too the OP.

It's in there at 67, but you've missed it.

Which is, of course, to be expected.

The denizens of TD have voted and we don't like this list.

Time to close the Internet down.

Whoever did that list must have concentrated on the Northeast of the U.S. I’ve never heard of several of those American sandwiches.

Lobster roll! Who in their right mind would put a nice chunk of lobster on a dang hotdog bun. At least put it on a nice baguette!

I ate arepas andina just about every day while in Venezuela. They were so very good. I still dream about them but outside of going back to Venezuela, or maybe Miami, no chance to eat them again.

How many of the 100 could easily be eaten on the back of a horse. The original concept of a "sandwich".

I don’t click links. I just read the list you posted. Which incidentally stops at 50. Ain’t nobody got time to read more than that.

The Swiss had a bacon butty but no mention of lettuce and tomato. The USA an impressive 16 sangers, blighty and Oz didn't get a mention, maybe they've never heard of my birds eye fish finger Betty's?

How can avocado toast even be on the list? It's not a sandwich.

I think sometimes it's not about the contents, it's about the occasion. Bacon barms, BLT's, etc are always great, but for me, steak sandwiches. The first one, a dawn buy from a kiosk at Cape Town train station waiting for a train for the 20 mile journey back to Simonstown. Absolutely superb, a large soft bun with steak that melted in the mouth. Never forget, and 50 years ago.

The next one, something similar. Found myself in Punta Arenas in southern Chile for a couple of weeks. Decent hotel but found a bar which apart from having good draught beer, part of the bar was a refridgerated display, the contents mostly beef. You chose your own meat and it was cooked and presented however you wanted (in my case on a large bun) with whatever you wanted on it.

Never about the 'best', always about the most memorable.

A couple of places like that. Had a short term relationship with a quite large lady who glowered at me when serving (drinks). I think I stakyed at the Cabo de Horno hotel, an easy walk away.

Back of a horse? I thought it was originally made as something to eat at the gambling table...

Anyway, where's the cheese&onion and egg cress sandwiches? Easily my favourite when on the move...
