Baked beans were a premium back then.
And rice was an expensive novelty.
At least they don't have hot dog or corn dog on the menu. Proper sausages, only. No burger either. The maccas plague was some years away.

In the cafes of Dublin Cardiff and London of my boyhood bacon rolls, sandwiches were favourites perhaps it was a price thing?
Just a couple of years more than 50, I was a primary school student in Sydney.
There was a Fish & Chip shop across the road from school.
On the rare occasions that I was allowed to buy lunch, it was a piece of battered fish 10 cents, 5 cents worth of chips and a Razz or Sunnyboy for 5 cents.
Those were the days. And the fish n chips came wrapped in newspaper

I stayed (omce) near Hindley street: it was a complete zoo. 4:00am at MacDonarls was carnage as the nightclubs and bars closed. Never again.
