Everything needed 3 mins in the microwave apart from the spring rolls. They went in the airfryer.
The prawn crackers were good to go.



Looks ok but tasted dreadful..


Even the dog turned his nose up at the leftovers..

The best Chinese food I have had was in Singapore and Hong Kong.

The worst was in China.

Agreed the Cantonese Dim Sum to die for and not bad in Penang

Tip avoid the Tangsu Bat Soup and chicken feet in offal with sea slug.

Oddly the best Cantonese food I ever had was in Calcutta in the 1970s and the best Curry in Penang

I got food poisoning in India. Food was shite as well.

The best Indian food is no doubt found in Malaysia.

And my wife cooks a nice Indian Curry as well and I am about to have a Chicken Madras now.

Her teacher was a bloke who's family own Indian restaurants on Brick Lane and Birmingham.

Yep, there is also teh famous "Curry Mile" in Manchester and the famous corner cafe in Bradford.

I believe many so called Indian chefs come from Sylhet area in B Desh near Darjeeling/Jaiplaguri

Tip I have never seen a good Indian place that offers

you see plenty of Pakistani places that say Indian /Pakistan /Chinese

It'd be like a Shoe shop also selling Soul Music, enemas and the "end" product Vegimite.

Jellyfish with sesame, cucumber and shallots. Great hot weather food.

What type of jellyfish?
I thought it was tasteless and poisonous.

No idea tbh. Yes, very mild tasting- and absolutely not poisonous (they say it's good for you actually). Kind of crunchy yet gelatinous- and delicious. It's typically served as a starter with a seafood banquet, chilled. Lovely, especially on a hot day.

Beche de Mer/ sea cucumber also very nice- but pricey.

I suppose in a massive place like China you can find the best and worse of things, and then of course there is the fact that the cuisine varies a lot according to region- northern food, for example, is typically too greasy/ oily for the western palate. Try your Peking duck in HK, not Beijing!

But I have to say, the best Szechuan food I ever tried was in a restaurant in Shek Ou, a short ferry ride from HK. Way beyond the budget of the average local at that time, of course. Only slip up was the Chonqing chicken- holy cow it was spicy. Sadism.

Oh, and I will slip this in before Norton does- Taiwanese food is excellent.

Anyone tried roast pigeon? Another scrumptious Cantonese favourite. Those guys would soon sort out the mess that is Trafalgar Square.

I am sure there is a lot of good Chinese food in China , and being a huge country , many different cuisines.
IMO, it is that which many of us in the west recognise as "Chinese' food, , titles like you would find in the bag Joe90 was so kind to warn as against you would not find in China , at least was not in the places I have been. I will admite laving spend a limited amount of time in China (there on business) my exposure to it was also limited.

Personally I don't like duck of any kind , and certainly don't like to look at food that looks back at me LOL

Last time I visited the States I noticed a lot of strip malls had Chinese takeaway places that advertised "New York Style Chinese Food."

Well nobody in China knows this General Tso's chicken. It seems to resemble Hunan cuisine, but an American concoction. Nice enough too.
