It all depends,of when and or where.
When I make my own during St' Pattys day , afterwards I use the leftovers to make Hash for breakfast, and it looks something like your only a bit more shredded rather than cubed.
But the one you make from a can is a bit different.
If you make your own from a can of corned beef, ir is a bit more chunky and stringy, but id you buy a can of the already made, like the Hormell, it is more Mushy, the trick is to let it caramelize on one side and then flip it as you are frying it.
I had all kinds , and trust me they are all good. But as I said, I like it crispy
If I go to a dinner I always tell the waitress "Hash and home fries crispy please," I don't like a mush.

Even in UK you can buy slad ingredients not teh pre wrapped sprayed rubbish , A caroot an onion, some cabbage, grate (if wrist wasted by wanking, blitz in a shredder), Add topping I like anchovy, tuna, Feta cheese and black olives Greek style but if feeling Fawlty why not a Waldorf Hysteria Salad, named after the Waldorf Hysteria Hotel Talky
