^^ To be honest mate, my mum makes a Sherry trifle with proper whipped cream that knocks the socks off anything else I've ever had. I sometimes use these Bird's Trifle Kits and they don't even come close.

No don't go there just buy one.. my dad long dead now used to make a kick ass trifle every Xmas. Wonderful.

It is looking like a hefty heavy-weight but I feel up to the challenge

Nothing for it but to head in with my trusty pudding spoon in hand

I thought I did quite well for a first sitting but it is gonna take the best part of a week to knock over this bad boy

I was actually on the scout for another British fruit trifle when I was seduced by this cheeky little Latin American pretender. But now that I have thrown down my $25 there is nothing for it but to work my way through before I head back to the trifle aisle

This sounds like a plan. I am wondering of I can excavate a tunnel down the side of a Coles fruit trifle and then do a covert insertion of a quarter bottle of sherry (or maybe even Southern Comfort! - although I was planning on relegating the southern comfort to pudding lighter fuel for Christmas day given as how it is not measuring up to the lofty heights I was advised by our merkin brethren)

Father Christmas brought my daughter a waffle maker, which was pretty lucky because I like waffles.



We Christened it today. Strangely enough it makes waffles with a black rim around the edges which also tasted a bit funny. I'm wondering if I should have given it a good wipe down before making the first waffles?

Those trifles had me licking my lips, haven't had a decent one since my mum died.

Anyway, I decided to do a fruit flan for the children at Christmas. I suppose I should call it an Obstboden, since the flan pan came from Germany, as did the Tortenguss.



The sponge turned out okay, could have been a bit lighter but the children were happy enough. I used nutella to seal the sponge before adding the fruit, can use angel delight as well if you like. I will do the same for New Year, but add some whipped cream if I can find a piping bag.

^ I like flans Troy, but I've always preferred a tart!

Anyway, with the onset of New Year I sadly bid farewell to the pudding thread, along with the 'What are you drinking?' and 'Dinner' threads and just about any other thread that means enjoyment. Yes, his time I am really gonna sort things out.

But first, a New Year's apple, mango and strawberry crumble. With some sloppy custard!



Words cannot describe how delicious this was.



But it's now all history for me...



Although there is some left in the fridge that should be finished up tomorrow...

Does Jess know how lucky she is? That slop is fantastic Mendip.

Yesterday was Children's Day, so as a treat I gave the daughter full rein to design the pudding of her choice.

She came up with an unusual combination but I was happy as the tin of strawberry custard had been in the cupboard for a couple of years and I wanted to get rid of it.



The proof of the pudding is in the eating of course. The daughter enjoyed it but I would have preferred a Golden Syrup steamed pudding with normal custard.

This is another thing we Brits do well, isn't it?

British desserts and puddings are the best in the world.

Peut etre, but you have to take points away from the French just for being French.

The puddle of milk surrounding the cake itself is actually stored in my wank bank.

I thought I would add a creamy counterpoint to tonights chocolate mudcake with a dollop of rice pudding

Thought I would make my chocolate tart a bit healthier with another dollop of rice pudding

Has anyone had sloppy Semolina recently?

Not since primary school, but I seem to have a hankering for it this past day or two.

^Have not had semolina in donkey's decades but you have given me a nostalgic hankering. I wonder if you can buy it tinned.


Senorita brought over 3 luxury puddings from a delicatessen this evening

They were leftovers from some kind of girly get together this afternoon but they were all intact so maybe the ladies are on a diet

This is a very strong coffee gateau/cake confection

Lined the stomach with a mixed plate of Tandoori and spicy Satay since going straight for the pudding seemed a bit uncivilised. Shared one plate of curry to leave room for the main course

My friend in the bathroom did not cause Senorita to lose her pudding appetite

Senorita's favourite was this custard and caramel dome

My favourite was the supercharged espresso slice standing tall on the back right (that is one slice from the monster slab in the box which I am hoping she might leave in the fridge)

The rear left was a black forest gateau

Mate round, so cheese but not a lot ready, some Keans cheddar, Sparkenhoe blue and a little welsh goatee with some bread and EVOO, caramelised onion chutney and piccalilli washed down with Blandys Madeira.
